Switching FT boot models

So last year I had classics and fucking hated them. I got wicked shinbang and even worse toe bang. I don't know if I was fitted wrong or if my foot just didn't fit the model. Needless to say I'm still getting shin bang with my spks and my friends who have full tilts don't get any. Has anyone switched ft boot models and had success?

Along with general comments, the wisdom of onenerdykid would be greatly appreciated.

sounds like a case that you're landing to far back in your boot resulting in shin bang... Go to a really good boot fitter and get custom foot beds if possible and work on landing over the centre of your skis

Where did you get the spk fitted? What type of footbeds did you get? I see it a lot here that people think a boot will magically fix issues. It won't it's having te boot fitted. If I had to guess I would say you have a collapsed medial arch which is pronating your foot and making the foot appear longer then it really is. Because if this you have upsized and this has left a gap above the instep. Because of this you are getting not bang as you are not tracking straight. A good footbed can help put you in neutral and get your foot where it needs to be. From here you can evaluate the foot in the shell and see if any thing like heel lifts or shell work is needed.

Overall though take your boots to a great boot fitter and have him try to fit your current boots or have him recommend some suitable boots.

That sounds like a good idea thank you. It's just that everyone I know and ski with that has ft doesn't get shin bang and everyone who doesn't have ft gets shin bang. The boot fitter i went to wasn't really a boot fitter so I've never been "fitted" for a boot.

It dosnt matter how the boots fit on your friends. Do your friends all have the exact same foot as you? No. Therefor the boots that work well for your friends might not work well for you.

Nah they have different feet but there's about 10 of them so there has to be something there.

There isn't something there. Trust me. FT fits their feet. It doesn't fit yours.

Things you should do:

-If you don't have a footbed in there, get one. Custom preferred, but if you don't have the cash, get a superfeet blue or green.

-Do a shell check on yourself. Take out the liner, put your foot in until your toes barely touch the front. Flex forward, and see how much room you have behind your heel. 3 fingers? 2 fingers? 1 finger? This will let us know if you're even in the right sized boot. You might be in a boot that is too big.

-Tighten your buckles. They could be a bit loose. But don't overtighten.

-Stop landing backseat. Might be a subconscious thing, but try to avoid it. Landing backseat in a boot that doesn't fit will make shit bad for you.

-If you do a shell fit and its a tight 2 finger or a loose 1 finger, and you put the footbeds in and it still hurts, try putting a heel lift in.

-Try taking your spoilers off. If you ski backseat, these basically are making your problem worse.

I did the check and got 2 fingers maybe 2 1/2 so they fit pretty well, would the super feet go inside or outside of the liner?

2.5 is a little big, just so you know. Usually, 1 finger is "performance" , 2 fingers is "normal", and 3 is too big.

Superfeet would go inside the liner, replacing the current insoles in there. You would put the other insoles on top of the superfeet, trace them, and cut the superfeet to their size. Then put just the superfeet insoles into the boot. This should be your first step, might fix it, might not. It can't hurt.

Some good points in here but never buy superfeet to go in boots they are ok for shoes but not boots. Superfeet do not surport the medial arch which is very inportant to surport in a ski boot. Don't waste money on superfeet buy custom sidas only.

They will be about 150-200 depending on what surport you require. The surport needed will be determined by a few things including how unstable your feet are, how hard you ski and even what you ski. They may seem expensive but they are the only way to get a goo boot fit so they are worth every penny. Always spend less on the boots if cost is a concern.

I agree that custom footbeds are pure gold, but you can go cheaper than 200 bucks and still get some support. My first pair i just took my footbeds out of my hiking boots and put them in my ski boots, they worked great for a season.

They may offer some surport compared to a stock insole but they would not be properly surportung your foot. So although you can use cheaper alternatives your best off just paying and getting a good sidas footbed. They should out live the boots so when you think it's maybe only 100 per pair of boots they really are not too bad.
