This year @ the Masters we're dividing the athletes into 2 teams on-site at Retallack via a knife throwing contest. Since there won't be much time to prepare, we need to pick some team themes, props, and costumes in advance. shit got out of hand in sun valley last year so i understand that it couldn't be held there again, but why did you guys decide to change the format?

the format in past years has always been a blast and everyone had an amazing time (short of the hotel staff and maybe a few others who had to throw down a lot of dough to avoid lawsuits)last year, so why make it somewhere that's virtually inaccessible for friends and spectators? lack of a resort offering to host? fear that it'd get too crazy?

Amplid had a pretty solid TMNT team at Masters 7 back in 2010, they're at ~1:30 in the edit below. They sat down at the picnic table jib/feature in the middle of their run and had pizza delivered, most of which ended up being thrown at other teams and the crowd.

Great ideas so far - not sure if the dildos one is going to happen but keep 'em coming!

i don't have an "official" answer but here's a couple of the top line ideas that went into it:

1. with all the olympic / slopestyle hype this year we wanted to switch up the terrain to something other than a resort park.

2. rules exist for a reason (probably for everyones own safety), but after last year we wanted to go to a place where there are [almost] none: Retallack.

the format change is more circumstantial than intentional - Masters events in the past have had 8-10 teams of 4 athletes - logistically with cat seats it's not feasible to run it that way in the backcountry this year (also need to have photographers, guides, video, etc onboard).

we're already starting to think forward to Masters X, which will likely make it's way back to a resort where plenty of spectators can attend. maybe even on a coast that has yet to host an Orage Masters event...
