I switched from Marker bindings to the FKSs this season, best decision ever. My friends and I kept snapping the heels on markers because they are all made of plastic. The whole heel on the FKS is metal, and I can honestly say they are the best bindings I've ever been on. For sure worth the price tag on them. Hope this helps bro!
Are you gonna be getting the 140's or 180's? If you're an aggressive skier and will be shreddin steeps and pow I would go with 180 probably unless your under 160 lbs. As for the jesters, they're a great binding and the hold up well especially if your pounding chutes and ripping pow. Either choice is a good one, go with what you can get cheaper.
Markers have the best pow-oriented bindings on the market. Everything about them is for power transmission on fatty planks. If you get the Jesters, you will have better power transmission and really, wont be sacrificing anything durability wise if its for pow skiing. They will perform better in pow, be easier to click into on pow days, will have a wider AFD, screw hole pattern, and power bar, so they will absolutely be your best bet.
Personally I am an FKS lover, but you can't deny the facts, and the facts say that Marker's are making the best pow bindings out right now.
You could also take that sentiment the other way and say, Do you want your ski to fall off or tear your acl going mach whatever through a skied out coulouir.
Ok guys fks 140 and jester have just as much plastic as each other. The 180 does have more metal but is also heavy and overkill for most.
Have you also considered the sth2 13 or attack 13. Both those are better then the fks 140 so depending which fks you were considering maybe look at a few other options.
OP you wont be let down by either. I have owned both and am a fan of both. They are both pretty expensive so I think its really just gona come down to personal preference. I actually had p18's on my pow skis last year before getting trackers. The only real gripe I have with FKS is if something breaks and you have to take it to your ski shop, they wont work on it and will tell you they have to send it to Rossi. Also I have never noticed a problem with "power transition" because of Look's narrow mount pattern. Honestly if that's your excuse for being held back your a pussy.
The heel piece the holds the break is for sure plastic, this is the part that friends, and myself have broken on multiple marker bindings, if you hold a pair of them you will also realize a bunch of other parts are also plastic. Not saying this wont work for him and his skiing, I'm just putting in my experience with marker bindings and saying for how I ski the FKS is for sure the better option.
We'll most of you I'm sure use the markets for the park where you slam it all day, but in the pow the landings are softer unless you prefer to huck cliffs onto rocks. Marker makes the best pow binding on the market, so for your situation that's what I would go with.
