I'll be in Salt Lake for spring break to ski, but my dad and I don't want to take our shit on the plane and risk them losing it. So I was wondering if any of you guys have rented gear from the Lifthouse? if you have, what is the selection they offer? it seems like a nice place, but there's no actual info on their ski choices...
last time i was in there which was like 2 years ago, they had some pretty killer demo's you could try. they're a great shop and im sure you'll find what you need. perfect location for a ski shop might I add. right at the mouth of two very famous canyons.
This. And why would you not take your skis? If they do lose them which is highly unlikely, then you can go there as a backup plan. If they dont lose them, more likely, youll be all set
what airline are you flying? check their baggage fees concerning oversize luggage, and if it's more than it would be to rent, then disregard the rest of this.
however, i have flown 4 round trips (8 ways), some with multiple connections (never a straight flight) over the past 2 winters and southwest or the one time i flew united never lost my bags. only ever had to pay one $50 baggage fee too cause the agent was being a stingy bitch hole. if you get to the airport and check in at a reasonable time, your bags will probably be alright.
if you're still not feeling it, go ahead with the rentals, it's not my money. but seriously like other have said, take your boots with you. i have fit mine in my carry on every time so there's no chance they can get lost. you can even sling them over your shoulder
Damn, I completely forgot to mention the main reason why I'm renting - I only own park skis. I plan on skiing all over the mountain (my trips out West are few and far between) so they're simply not practical. I went full retard earlier, sorry...
