Why sell out to sponsors when you could have a crew of people like the kids here on NS who support what you do just simply scan the code on your back when they see you killing it at a comp and donate money? Some kid in the audience at the past X Games made shy of 25k just holding up his public key QR code. Pros could wear whatever they want, ski whatever skis they like, drink whatever they want and not have to give a shit about money or people telling them what to do with their time as long as they could maintain adequate following and reasonable PR. I could see this making the whole ski industry more like the traveling circus. Just some food for thought.
How would this be any different than say putting your paypal email on your jacket or something, other than the fact that yaknow, regular currency is stable.
Oh yeah and this also, pros are cool and all, but I'd rather save my money for lunch or some gear or something.
Pros are sponsored/paid sometimes because they help a company sell a product. It's a symbiotic relationship. With no product, I can't see many pros being paid anything out of just the good will of people.
it would be a cool addition to normal sponsorship, but i don't think people would donate enough money. i think it would be a good idea to donate bitcoin/dogecoin/litecoin or something like that for good media on newschoolers

I have hooked up lots of younger skiers with things they have needed. I have even lent skis to riders for comps ect. This is how the industry works, those with the means help the up and comers.
So yeah the op's idea is a little off but I would hope skiers would want to help each other when they can.
not quite. one of the largest btc exchanges, Mt Gox, froze all of the accounts. there was a pretty large amount of distrust towards gox before the whole thing went down, so most people should not have had btc stored in their gox exchange wallets. also, people were using their gox exchange accounts to store all of their btc in, which is an awful idea. if you have any large amount of btc, then it should be in a secure wallet, not in an online exchange. the price of bitcoin is down though, i think its somewhere around 600-700 now
Might want to do some research on bit coins first. You do realize that there is nothing backing the value of a bit coin. There have been an awful lot of news articles lately pertaining to bit coins and how fucked up they are. Not to mention how often they are used for highly illegal activities, ie Silk Road. This has got to be one of the most retarded things I've seen in a long while

how is just a fad when there are agencys that buy for companys bitcoin shares in order to store their liquidity beside shares on the traditional stock market.
