Caught an edge on the lip of the big air at Shanty Creek and lost a ski in air while still rotating. I looked down and knew i had to bail out and go down on my side. Inner thigh feels like I've been kicked by a donkey n shit.
I went down harder than I have in a few years yesterday. I went way too fast into a wind lip at snowbird, took it a good 20ft past where I should be landed. Put it down bolts but the snow was super punchy and instantly dub ejected and thawked 3 or 4 times. Didn't get hurt at all somehow but my neck/shoulders are sore today.
collided with my friend at like 20mph. i was doing a switch one off of a cat track thing and i thought my buddy was going down one trail like he had been all day but instead he was cutting back to get onto the cat track. did the swtich 1, was blind until the last second, landed too close to him for me to be able to stop, we both double ejected and flew through the air. right under the lift too. nobody was hurt so we had a good laugh about it
Been throwing nose butter 360s off the big rollers at my local hill, threw one too big and went to 540 yday, came out switch all was fine, made too sharp of a turn, plopped right onto my hip going top speed. Hurts like shit a day later.
Fucked up on the biggest tranny of my life, went about 35 to near flat, rode it out on my ass, it should've destroyed my ACL. not sure how my legs still work...
Backswap on a nice down rail, ski pops off as soon as I land back on the rail and I fall to the ground landing on my hand. Pretty sure I broke one of the bones in my hand seeing as I can't move my index very well. But hopefully its just a bad jam.
last night I hopped onto a down rail and it was super slow, wasnt expecting it and got ahead of my feet a bit, caught front edge from stickiness and like shit whipped to my tailbone and like backflip bounced out. Sucked, can barely walk today.
I had my goggles up on my forehead while hitting jumps and as I went off the lip for a flat 3 the goggles fell over my eyes so I couldnt see. I ended up knuckling a little bit and popping around to switch and caught an edge and slammed my head and messed up my leg.
My edge hit a notch at the end of the rail in my backyard while I was trying to spin off of it, and somehow the rail just literally started moving forward with me. I just sorta hovered over it for a second until my tips hit it and I hit the ground, impaling myself with my pole. It was a lot of carnage for a backyard
Fucked my hip so hard today. Highest down rail we have in the park, probably like 4 feet off the ground. I usually have lipslides on it on lock but I just got sloppy. Caught the tails trying to get up onto the urban style rail and then slammed hip first into the ground. Damn.
I lined up a 15 footer cliff drop and landed on the noob track 2 weeks ago. Fucked my shoulder for the season; not sure of the damage, but it hurts 10/10 on the pain scale when I pull it.
Tips to gapers: dont snowplow behind cliffs. I will personally choke you to death if you poach a sick line.
Double ejected under the lift when I hit a rock buried under two feet of snow. Cased a jump cause of the fresh snow (a different day) and chattered my teeth bad. Still skiing, right?
I was skiing a steep untracked area of Kirkwood that i had never skied before. Was charging it pretty hard, airing off benches and rollers in the terrain when i come up to what looks like a rollover, possibly a cliff. The transition and my speed were perfect for sending it fluidly and at speed through the goalpost of trees in the landing. so i popped at the top. i was perfectly tucked up and balanced in the air and set the landing gear down perfectly; tails just before underfoot.
And then my left ski ripped off and pitched me forward where i somersaulted(not full tamahawk) violently forwards twice. It was that natural instantaneous reaction to tuck and roll over your shoulder that happened haha(thank god for that instinct). Ended up upright on one ski still going down hill with my goggles totally covered in snow and me totally blind haha.
I fell over, brushed the snow from my goggles and saw my ski poking out of the snow about 20 yards above me. Fuck me. It took me about 15 minutes of constant fighting through waist deep snow, and a 40+ degree pitch to get to where that ski was.
sometimes even when everything goes right, it can still go wrong haha. Always a good thing to remember. Glad my reminder came on a deep day, and i skied away from it.
I was skiing trees at Jay peak last saturday. Caught a bump the wrong way and got launched into a tree sideways at full speed. I hit the tree right above my knees and felt my knees bend past where they should. I let out this uncontrollable caveman scream the instant I hit the tree. Was in a lot of pain and couldn't move my knees for like a minute and thought my season was over right then and there. After chilling for a while I found I could move my knees and got up and skied away. They felt weird for a couple of days but now I'm skiing as hard as ever. Scariest fall of the season so far...
Sounds like mine. Hopefully I am good to go this weekend. My whole left hip kills. Inside, outside, and anywhere else. Cancelled the ski trip today, but have a big one this coming weekend.
Just so you understand why this happened, the DFD at Sugarloaf is suuuper kicky and most locals refer to it as the DUD (down up down, or just dud because it sucks). Got on, remembered I had to put pressure on my front edge, leaned forward instead of putting pressure and lincolned off the end and whiplsahed the fuck out of my face
Went for a blind 270 out on an up box hit the rail with to much speed caught an edge while still rotating and came strait down on my wrist, fractured it now I'm rocking a purple cast.
I was skiing around down from the park on a groomer and went to hit a little drop from cat track down to the steeper part. The landing is blind, but i've hit it so many times i just assume its good (its on the side of the trail). So I go to hit it and right as im coming off the lift i see this huge pile of ice/snowmaker snow in the landing, i hit it, double eject, and break my thumb
Today I went for a sw lip on fs 27 out. It was a large pipe and I managed to get one of my skis in and basically sw backflipped on. My elbow hurts, back is sore and head is dizzy. Still was a good day.
Tramp-Foam pit: did an easy gainer and just screwed up and had my hand hit awkwardly on the solid side. Broke a wrist bone (scafoid) in half and dislocated another bone. Had surgery and will be in a cast soon for 3 months. No skiing for a while and probably no park till next season
Overshot the smallest jump in the park by like 20 feet because they had redesigned it and I hadn't noticed. Didn't eject but got a double case of shin bang from landing back seat in an effort to not destroy my face.
Different day, tried to do a little 3 off of a roller with a jump carved into the side, caught my edge and got bucked, flew backwards for a bit. I managed to get a ski under me but then took the landing straight to the ass and subsequently smashed my melon into the ground. Not that big of a deal but still made for a funny video and made me glad I was wearing a brain bucket
First 20 foot+ cliff drop.
-First hit landed too far forward, double ejected, faceplanted and got hit in the ass by my skis sliding down behind me but not hurt.
-Second hit trying to compensate for forward lean I landed somewhere between afterbang position and full on back-slap, my ankle bent awkwardly.
-Skied the rest of the day
-Took off ski boot and my ankle swelled up
-Went to doctor, thankfully it was just a sprain.
I really feel like a dumbass getting injured hucking into 2+ feet of pow.
I took a lap at the end of the day with some instructors yesterday. They were clinicing with some guy. I wanted to make sure he knew we weren't soft at the mountain so I boosted a natural rock feature and had no idea that the landing was ice. FLat landing, ice landing. Knee isn't doing so hot today.
My mountain had it's gaper day today because it is a small resort in PA and won't be open much longer and I pulled my groin doing a cosack with 110cm straights.
