Let's the not forget the stunt they pulled with the Seth Morrison footage for Session 1242. There was some trouble with that. So he ended up having 3 shitty shots where he went inverted once and some crappy old Warren Miller footage.

They have Seth by the balls. Underrepresenting the greatest skier of our generation in a supposedly one time special company movie is practically a crime.

most of the stuff i've skipped over.

bottom line, to me anyway, is that if MSP is using these kind of tactics in the filming industry (and i think i'll believe Levin over anyone else unless it's Winters himself, but after getting the gist of the L1P message, i don't think i'd believe him anyway) they're definately hurting an industry that they helped create. it's just stupid - why try to bump out smaller guys that are just trying to put out a good flick that they've probably poured their heart and fucking soul into to make? it'd be like O'Connell sabotaging all of Abbott's camera gear - it only pisses the other guy off and it's just no good for the industry as a whole since we're all here for the same thing, albeit some of us prefer one thing over another (jib vs. big mountain). sure it's a business, but MSP should realize that we're all in it for the same thing.




personally i've never really enjoyed MSPs movies anyway. i own SM2 and 3, but only because they were on sale. that and halfway through they pretty much put me to sleep.

MSP movies have their place. Yes they are no longer the new kids on the block, but their movies changed the face of skiing and we can't forget that - what long-term skibum didn't watch The Tribe and get blown away ? It was the movie that energised the whole freeskiing movement.

MSP movies aren't the most trendy and up to the minute, but what they do do is bridge the gap between the core and the masses. They also do this with the cleanest filming in the business. Slo-mos might be pretty uncool to your hardened jibbers out there but show the public a movie with one full speed trick after another and they'll quickly switch off.

Of course the core movies are essential to the advancement of the sport, and the fact there are so many movies out there is great and demonstrative of a healthy atmosphere of competition, but they will remain core and unappealing to the masses by their very nature.

I don't know the politics (if any of this crap is true) and frankly I don't care, what I do know is if there's one 'bigtime' production company representing our sport to the public then I'd rather it was MSP than Warren Miller.

I'll buy Yearbook, but then I'll also buy the latest from Poorboyz and Plehouse...

I've been buying ski movies since 13 came out. I have to say that PBP has never let me down. The only time I get critical about them is when they push back their release dates and they keep me in dispense. I understand how hard it is to put a movie together now after working with H30 over the summer. I don't hold that against them. It's sad that a company that recieves so much sponsership money (MSP) would stoop to the level of calling Helly Hansen and VAS and put down Poor Boyz. As long as I've been watching and experiencing the 'newschool' aspect of skiing I haven't seen a single person that was in the industry that wasn't trying to progress the sport. The actions taken by MSP is comparable to Transworld cancelling Freeze. That's now progressive. Trying to pay off athletes to not be in a paticular movie isnt progressive. It's sad. Eventually maybe our sport will evolve into team movies but their is a right and wrong way to do that. Plehouse's White Shine should be a good example of that as was Session 1242 with the Oakley athletes. Maybe MSP will respond in a positive way to this thread but then again maybe not.

MSP DID RESPOND TO THIS THREAD, and it wasn't possitive. Steve Winter IS Huckandstomp (all though he is to weak to admit it) I'm pretty sure he's a few other screen names too... he called me names, and beat around the bush when I asked him very specific and pointed questions pertaining to the FACTS. He never answered my question. Although, after knowing what I know about him, I wouldn't expect anything less; it was a very behind the back and deceiving approach to spread miss-information.

True to form.

PS... Berman isn't Dishwalla, you shouldn't have had to call the two-plank kids to figure that one out. Josh is a few levels above going on the internet under an asumed identity.

i can't even believe that so many people in this thread think that MSP actually makes 'bad' movies. These movies still have some of the sickest skiers, the sickest locations, the sickest film quality, and for sure the sickest angles. And not to forget these guys have paved the way for every company, big and small, like myself, and we still need to appreciate that. Everyone, please stop saying that these movies suck! that is far from the truth. and thats all i gotta say, and will have to say in this long and wasteful forum thread

everday messages are left concerning certain business manors and details. If this was to stop the business world as we know it would cease, thus creating no more skiing! If we would all stop the ranting and judging of people you may not even know, the ski 'industry' might just be able to survive and we wouldn't lose magazines, ski companys, film companys, ect. so just go out and support whoever you like and stop the negativity, instead talk about how much you like the video's instead of how much you don't.

the only thing that ticks me off about this thread is how everyone is saying MSP makes a bad movie or a bad product, its so not true, the cinamatography and overall feel of the films are great, they have the equiptment to make sick movies and they do year after year, you cant deny the fact that with there resources and equiptment they make sick movies, please look at the subject at hand, which has nothing to do with the actual movies produced......
