Does it take a serious injury to be your best?

After watching Bobby brown's recent little edit, it looks like he is having fun again. And I know it seems to be the case, that to get hungry again, it almost seems like you have to take a serious hit along the road to appreciate skiing. Thoughts?

I blew my knee out in march, missed the end of last season and all of this season.
You better believe I'm planning to come back next season with great knee braces and in better physical condition then I've ever been in in my life.
I'm not saying they're getting better because they missed the season, it's a physical thing too, since my injury i've been at the gym at least 3 times a week and my body is much better than it ever has been.

A friend of mine broke their collar bone and when they came back they skied with more passion than anyone I've seen this season.

Some days I get caught up in trying to progress and push myself. I'm sure this happens to a lot of you. I recently broke my thumb and l have been "chill riding" having an absolute blast filming others and messing around. I noticed that internally I really had taken a step back

I skied for 20 years and like 8 in the park before I ever had an injury more serious than shin splints or an ingrown toenail. I was young and thought I was invincible because of all the times I didn't break something and it seemed like I should. Some people go back at it hard, but now I ski and try to improve technique and do stuff I haven't seen other people do.

I have many days where I don't fall at all, but the people progressing are eating shit, probably daily because you have to eat some shit if you want to learn new stuff.

Getting injured alot makes me really motivated to ski, perform to my best of efforts and enjoy it as wholesomely as possible. You never know when you could get injured next.

Honestly, i have appreciated the joys of skiing so much more as i have came back from a collarbone break earlier in the year. Yiu take for granted how great skiing is.

I think it's mostly physical conditioning, most freestyle skiers don't go to the gym regularly cuz there busy skiing or just chilling out waiting to ski. But when they have a serious injury they go to the gym to rehab so they can ski again and actually get a lot stronger. Think about it this way most top athletes spend at least 50% of their training time in the gym because they know strength is key, whereas skiers spend all their time skiing because they think that's the best way to improve

Calling it now t-wall will come back better than ever because he needs to go to the gym

definitely dont take skiing for granted like i did before i blew my knee. but no if anything i'd say i'm below my best because i don't feel invincible anymore and always have injury in the back of my mind and don't throw down as hard, although i do enjoy it more

Well if you were the best you'd never fall and get hurt, so, no?

All I know is, after taking a cannon rail to the gucci plateau and tearing my acl, I generally stay the fuck away from cannon rails now. That's not true. Sometimes I hit them, but they're still evil.

Others, being out for a few months makes you want it more. I didn't miss any skiing, just a lot of warm weather surfing.
