Concussion questions

I got a concussion skiing Monday at the Canyons, threw up twice, and spent a day with a bad headache, but have been fine since. I didn't get knocked out and the cat scan came back fine, but i am still concerned about a few things.

how long do i have to wait before i can drink, smoke cigs, ski, and do other things of the like that may affect my banged up head

i don't think you will ever be able to smoke cigs again but seeking how test were fine and you weren't unconscious probably a week or so until it safe to ski carefully.

A long time before you SHOULD ski or partake in any activity that can put your head at above normal risk.

If this is your first concussion, 2-3 weeks to be on the safe side.

is that just for cigs? my friend has had 6+ concussions and he still smokes w33d with us...

This, my school districts concussion protocol is 2 weeks with no physical activity, which has been approved by neurologists and shit.

The first concussion is always the worst so don't worry because from here on out it gets better. and dumber.

I def wouldn't drink for a while. It's not easy but better safe than sorry.

I would get checked out though. Brain injuries are serious business. If you don't wear a helmet you might want to grab one. If you wear a helmet you might want to check if you broke the fuck out of it or not.

I wish I had a helmet sponsor. I always break the things and can't afford new ones for a while.

Hope your dome straightens out. Be careful and give it some time

This is directly the opposite of what is true. Yes, you get dumber but the symptoms get worse and you get a worse concussion from the same impact.

The symptoms get worse with every concussion. There are also possibilities of other side effects beyond getting slower/stupider including depression and anxiety among other mental health issues.

I would wait MINIMUM 3 weeks before partaking in anything that puts you at risk
