I mean its not what it was then, but things have certainly been heading towards the path of another Russian dictator running as much of eastern Europe as he can. Invading neighboring countries that spoke the same language sound familiar?

Lol you do those little yellow and brown people no justice, well first off you referred to them as yellow and brown people, but they most certainly have a very good understanding of warfare. Its been awhile since the US military has faced a conventional army, I think they would really take to it after years of fighting an insurgency.

With Crimea's parliment voting to be absorbed by Russia, this will encourage pro-russians in Ukraine to protest more and maybe get violent again. Looks like civil war is very possible. And who backs who when that happens?

Yeah, it would never come to that.
And that's the thing - they may lose face temporarily, but this current Russian re-imposition of power over the former states is essentially the same as what's been happening for the last 20 years, just in a more 'assertive' manner.

Putin's openly stated he aims to create a 'post-communist euraion union', and it certainly seems it's heading in that direction, and has been for some time.

Just saying, if you want to try to call people out on grammar, you should probably start by capitalizing the first letter in your sentences. But I do like your use of unusual words like cretinous, I can honestly say I've never seen that used in a discussion on NSG before, and I am most definitely adding that to my vocabulary.
