We are 100 days out of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
I'm pretty excited. Even though USA is in a group of death if we can make it out we have a good shot of going beyond the first round of elimination. We've got a strong team and a good chance of doing better than any other cup.

Argentina need Lavezzi to stay wide on the left, and Zabaleta to do the same on the right so that Di Maria doesn't have to be the one going wide and leaving that space in the center empty.
There hasn't been one goal scored in the first half of the knockout round yet...pretty fucking boring 1st half across the board of games especially compared to the group round where it seems there were a ton more early goals

Well if you consider zero goals boring sure, but there has been a lot of back and forth play. Everyone has been VERY open and every team is susceptible to counterattacks.

I noticed that as well. Maybe its fatigue? The Brazilian heat could be taking so much out of the players that they dont want to empty the tank in the first half making a lot of runs?

I actually haven't got to watch this game so far just tuned in and noticed the score so I can't comment on how the 1st half of this game was

Could be heat, I always lose track of where each game is. Some games are 90 degrees and 100% humidity others are are a comfy 70 or so degrees
Maybe it just has to do with more respect between the teams at this point cause the quality is better and teams are more cautious I dunno
I think its part caution/part fatigue/part strategy. It seems that teams are unwilling to fully press an entire half, and if they cannot score in the first 15 of either, they sit back and play counter-attack games.

Think it's this mostly. In the group stages if you come out aggressively and get scored on it's not so big a deal because you have two other games to make up for a loss, but in the knockouts that's gone. Obviously, in a one off game, letting in a goal is a much bigger deal than in a group stage where you have three games. Pressure is definitely more on the bigger teams because if you're Germany or France or Argentina you know that if you let up an early goal the team you're playing against are just going to sit back and defend the rest of the game, making scoring that much harder.

Messi is the man, 95% of players would have went down in cried when he got bumped on the 18...he just powered through and got off a great shot. Really unfortunate not to score there
