Ryanvdonkfor sure the dude is magic though i don't think opponent really affects that. just would have been nice to see the groups more even though, B, D, and G had quality sides top to bottom were as some of the others had one strong team and a bunch of lucky to be there ones.

WattsI mean what is that chart counting? Because the u.s. actually has had players get injured, e.g. Altidore pulling his hammy and Clint breaking his nose, which both probably accounted for a lot of time spent "writhing" because they actually had to be attended to. Clint got kicked again against Portugal and limped off, and Besler seems to have legitimately twinged his leg in the Ghana game. The u.s. has actually just had a lot of minor injuries take place so far in the cup.

Granite_StateAs for that debate, Messi always has been and always will be a better footballer than C. Ronaldo. More hustle, more natural ability. You put them 1v1 and Messi comes out on top 8/10. Yeah 8, C. Ronaldo (we are doing THE Ronaldo a disrespect calling him that) is good but IMO not close to a Messi level.
WattsMessi has more natural ability, but all that means is that Ronaldo has more learned (trained? not sure what the right word is here) ability. It's not at all disrespectful to Ronaldo to refer to Cristiano as just Ronaldo without the "C" in front, he's a remarkable player who has, according to pretty much everyone whose been in contact with him, worked incredibly hard to get to the level he is at. Don't get me wrong, I 100% think Messi is a better player than Ronaldo, but Ronaldo is still an incredible player and, if he weren't playing at the same time as Messi, would be held in much higher esteem than he is. Fact of the matter is they're both doing things that have never been done before, including breaking the original Ronaldo's la liga scoring record for a single season.

WattsTrue, but who knows how motivated Portugal will even be for this game knowing it's as close to being meaningless as you can get without actually being meaningless, as they have to not only win, but make up a goal differential of 5. I mean you'd think they'd play hard just because it's the world cup, but who knows.

It looks like it'll be a bar fight unless the field has some kind of magical drainage system, which suits the u.s. more than it does Germany.
True, but if they get to half time and it's still 0-0, it'll be hard for the Portuguese to stay motivated. Even for Ronaldo it'll be hard seeing as he clearly isn't at 100% and must be in some kind of pain running. It's a lot easier to give up on something if you're hurting.
