VinnieFI've never pretended to be an expert. I know next to nothing about the sport outside Canada.
But here (I mean Ottawa, not NS) everyone has played soccer, but besides recent immigrants no one knows fuck all about it outside Canada till the world cup comes around when they're all experts suddenly.
Curious if it's the same here.
Soccer is becoming a much more prominent youth sport for many reasons but I think the majority of the US population is in the same boat as Canada in regards to knowledge. However, once the WC comes around, everyone seems to be an expert as well.
If any of you are from MA and know the Felger and Mazz show, they were talking about how the US should get an EPL expansion team. They believed an MLS allstar team could handle an EPL season and each player could still play for their MLS clubs. I almost called in to rip them apart for the idiocy of that plan. So many idiotic phone calls came after saying that was a great plan.
They all seem to have forgotten unlike American sports, the team that comes in last gets relegated, so if the MLS allstar team that played in the EPL got relegated, viewership would plummet. This is ignoring the fact that the travel would be brutal. Just so many fucking idiotic comments by those guys.
