2014 FIFA World Cup

We are 100 days out of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

I'm pretty excited. Even though USA is in a group of death if we can make it out we have a good shot of going beyond the first round of elimination. We've got a strong team and a good chance of doing better than any other cup.

What a finish.

If the Swiss want to move on, they need take the direct, attacking option. Too many passes head back or sideways, and they often chose the wrong final pass.

theBearJewI hate to see when a player is on a break, gets tapped and falls down. The guy has a scoring chance but chooses to fall down instead of trying to take the shot.


Perfect example in the Swiss game where the player didn't do this... and the soccer gods give reward.


Given he wasn't tapped, he was fouled pretty good and still gets up, charges down and plays on. Great advantage call by the official. Great effort to not quit by the Swiss.


Also really no draws so far in this WC. First time its gone this far with no draw since 1934 (I think thats what the guy on ESPN said)

Anyone else have to watch most of the smaller games in spanish? ESPN seems to only broadcast the big ones.

I've been skipping between ESPN and ESPN2 without issue and I've only missed one match.

French front 3 is very impressive. glad to be ahead, but I kinda wish they'd scored from open play. They certainly deserve it.

now bring the pressure. try to rack up a great goal count. or just try not to lose...

the games are way better in spanish, i love the enthusiasm. but im in argentina so its not like i have an option to watch in english.

people are surprisingly calm here but i suspect its because its only the 1st game and it will only get better. im gonna watch the game on a big screen in a park near my house with a couple litros of quilmes and few thousand other porteños.

Yeah... and with them, I hate the Dutch, Belgians, Luxies, North Africans, Danish, Norweigians, Polish, Czechs, Slovaks, Ukranians, Belorussians, Hungarians, Greek, Romanians, Yugos, etc etc etc. How dare they get steamrolled by the psychotic blitzkrieg...


Just support the English already - they're about the only ones that ever bring that garbage up anymore, anyway.

Somewhat, only because it's a team sport so obviously having great teammates helps Messi look better, the same way having great teammates helps every great player look better.

Yeah, after the own goal, that was a fantastic showing from Bosnia. They played very strongly. The Nigeria-Bosnia contest will decide #2 in the group.
