We are 100 days out of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
I'm pretty excited. Even though USA is in a group of death if we can make it out we have a good shot of going beyond the first round of elimination. We've got a strong team and a good chance of doing better than any other cup.
That caught me off guard and raised a hell of a lot of questions. What changes in the lineup for Spain? I think they go back to a false nineish approach. Someone more skilled as Fabregas, Villa, or even Pedro. Also the defensive line has got to figure it out. Lastly Casillas to the bench.
I must admit I did not see the Dutch backline being nearly as strong as it was. Nor did I think Robben, Sneijder, De Jong would still be that good. And I knew Robben was fast, but he's got Godspeed. Happy with the result though

It's odd because in the first half Spain were having no problem making chances and looked much more likely to score, but then the second half started and Spain could do nothing right and the Dutch could do nothing wrong.
As good of a win for the Dutch as that was, it has to be said that 3 of the goals could have been prevented had Casillas not been so bad.

He's not really that old for a keeper. I think it's more a problem of not having played for his club team all year. There's probably some rust, and also a sense of wanting to prove to the wolrd that he is still one of the best, which more often than not has the opposite effect.
Also protip, download the Dutch public broadcasters world cup iPad app, I'm not sure it it will work but they immediately have every goal and highlight on there and you can choose between TV feed and 16!cameras

He did play in the CL, which they won despite his error. He has played for the Spanish team since he was 19, and Madrid since he was 18. He never was the most athletic keeper and was quite small, and that has shown up recently.
But yes, some rust is a part. I think it was also a poor showing by the defense in general as well.

I'm aware. But playing just in the CL is still many less games than playing both la liga and the CL, as he was used to doing up until last year. But yeah, it's still too early to panic about Spain and declare them dead and gone, I think.
And looks like Chile took the foot off the gas too early and are now struggling to get back into gear.
I wonder how awkward the ESPN analysts set is and what everyone thinks about Alexi. You've got incredible players like Ballack and Van Nistekroy and some good coaches like Martinez and the Italian one(spacing on name) and then there's mediocre player Alexi who tried to start shit with everyone. I bet all the foreigners talk mad shit about Alexi in private.

That's professional flopping. They are selling it. We know its fake most of the time. Just part of the game. And it's funny a lot of the time on slow mo when nobody touches them and they barrel roll across half the pitch.
KillerPowNot really a huge Casillas fan, but honestly imo only two of the goals were his fault..
I mean even the first one, as good of a header as it was, what's Casillas doing standing on the six? Either he should be in the net, or he should go out and deal with the pass. It was a fantastic header, no doubt, but it was a case of Van Persie taking advantage of Casillas' poor positioning.
