We are 100 days out of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
I'm pretty excited. Even though USA is in a group of death if we can make it out we have a good shot of going beyond the first round of elimination. We've got a strong team and a good chance of doing better than any other cup.

But I'm pretty sure that board is just a stupid marketing thing done by Hubolt, a watch company... But then again, were talking about it.
something about this world cup already feels better than 2010 for me. maybe it's because France aren't already killing each other, or the lack of vuvuzelas... but something feels better. this is why non footballing nations should never have the world cup.
that wasnt a foul imo, but it really did fool me the first time i saw it. without a replay i have no idea how you could call that correctly. i think the ref has a done a good job so far. all the fouls have been fairly called and carded so far.
that's why I hate Spain. best team in the world, and they resort to... that.... to get a cheap penalty.
i'm obviously biased but when France were the best in the world from 1998 to about 2001.... they absolutely played like it. beautiful goals, great games and just entertaining stuff.

I mean Costa definitely got taken out, but I guess it's a question of whether or not he let himself hit. Hard to tell, I think. Certainly looked like a flat out penalty in live time, but less so in slow motion, but nothing ever looks as bad in slow motion.
Good to see the Dutch actually trying to play. There's probably less of a fear factor about Spain now than 4 years ago, so hopefully teams won't just park the bus against them then bitch and moan about how boring they are, as if the team that parks the bus has nothing to do with making the game boring.
Yeah, I don't even care how dirty they sometimes may be in contests like this, the Dutch are still so damn fun to watch. That effort down the left side was master class.
It baffles me that the biggest sports audience in the world tunes in to watch the best players in the world compete at the beautiful game, and the entire thing comes down to incompetent officiating more often than not.

Right, because all Spain did was pass the ball sideways this half. It baffles me how even people who are knowledgeable about the game fail to grasp the fact that, when one team parks the bus, it is more often than not their fault that the game is boring, not the team trying to attack. Look at this game, the Dutch are playing, and Spain aren't just passing sideways. Look at Liverpool vs. Chelsea, Liverpool were entertaining all season, but Chelsea parks the bus and the game is a borefest. Do you blame Liverpool for making that game boring, too?

Again, hard to tell. It happens so fast in live time that it seems somewhat unlikely that Costa could think that quickly, let alone actually be able to place his foot on the defender so he gets taken down, but who knows.

I got to watch most of 1 game at the bar just now. Would watch if I had cable. Used to play, used to follow the games. Aint got the abilities to watch them so oh well.
It's nice that for a short period every 4 years the us decides to care about a sport that's massively popular around the globe.
