Full Tilt Buckles

what planet do you live on? they had metal this year, also replacement buckles vome as metal buckles, too

I have the 2013 drop kick so they came with plastic buckles, and the website has both plastic and aluminium replacements. Only the upper end boots come standard with metal buckles, and next year's drop kick "theyellowboot" already appears to have plastic ones. Aside from that, I would like to see full tilt actually change their design a little instead of releasing the same shell and passing it off as a bunch of different boots every year, with only a few minor variations. Not that I dont like and appreciate full tilt as a company, and I do like their boots; I just want to see more innovation in their design, and I think the buckles would be a good place to start.

I think you missed the point earlier. They make replacement buckles that are also metal. Get the metal ones and don't worry about snapping the plastic ones again.

Don't buy their low end price point boot then? They keep them plastic to keep the price low. You get what you pay for so stop complaining. And you are just realizing that full tilts never change? The 3 piece design has been the same since 1980.

Its actually not their "low end boot." The Drop Kicks are the original shell mold design. A couple years ago they created a new mold which is very similar to the old one with a few small changes.. They upgraded the new molds with metal buckles and removable heel and toe strikes. Also, the new mold has a slightly wider toe box. Full Tilts main reasoning behind using plastic buckles is to save weight, not cost.

I do like my drop kicks, and do not feel that they are a "low end" boot. I do however, wish that they came standard with metal buckles despite the small weight gain. The piece that broke was actually the pin in the little push tab that allows the buckle to slide, which would probably have happened with the metal buckle as well; the buckle system is what I think needs redesigning, the shell I really like despite its redundancy.

Have you held a FT boot? They're pretty light no matter what buckle is on them. The weight thing is just part of marketing. The difference in weight between buckles is minimal. So yes, it's mainly a cost thing. Replaceable soles, and metal buckles up the cost.
