californiagrownDon't think the training will make your arms grow... The eating will.
You're very skinny right now.
shin-bangJust been skimming this thread. But as for eating your weight in grams of protein it helps put on weight. It helped me but on 10lbs for football but I wasn't like super swole or anything. No matter how hard I try I can never get big arms! Any help with getting bigger arms? And don't worry I don't skip leg day but I'm 6'2 179 lbs and very lengthy so my arms are like naturally skinny :(
DlCKYOU MUST FEEL THE PUMP! Really focus on volume like someone else said. The more blood you can get flowing into your arms the bigger youll get. Or just eat like Cali muscle and live in Venice.
-benedettoThanks for the foam rolling info. I want to be more flexible/mobile because I am neither.

BenWhitmobility, much like strength or conditioning, takes months and years to develop. Targeted drills using band distraction, lacrosse balls, kettlebells, voodoo floss, etc. will get you there long-term.

californiagrownIMO, its largely due to putting yourself at the end of your ROM with heavy ass weight, consistently over a period of years that does it haha. All the prehab just keeps you healthy and feeling good.
MACAQUEHow do you guys keep your shins from getting scraped up while deadlifting? Pants aren't an option since it's always 90 degrees in my gym
cobra_commanderya dont.
eddie hall just pulled 463kg for the DL record (1020lb), and guess what, his shins were bleeding like mad.
MACAQUEIt seems really rude and unsanitary to bleed all over the place though

cobra_commanderIf people bothered to learn to breath properly and spent some time on their trunk / core stability they would find their mobility would sky rocket.
For or those who don't know what I'm talking about Google Darkside Strength
BenWhiti've been on an OLY specific program for the last 8 weeks, during which i've done all of my squat and pulling work without a belt to develop some core strength & stability. it's amazing the difference breathing and bracing makes when you take the extra time to focus on it.
louie.miragsIf the no-belt helps develop core and stability strength, why ever wear it? Similar to wrist straps, shouldn't one develop the wrist strength before advancing? That is, if you want your body to work as one unit. Just pondering..

-benedettoMy shins haven't bled it months. Does this mean I'm doing something wrong? 85% a serious question. I have been meaning to get a form check from here or reddit but I always chicken out when it comes to posting it
MACAQUEEveryone that's helped me with my DL form has said that the bar should be rubbing on my shins. I don't think bleeding is a requirement but contact is
DlCKDo you guys ever do lifts with the intention of having a limited Rom? Like bent over rows without fulling extending your arms.

BenWhitnope. there is a supposed benefit to it, essentially the time under tension theory. some weightlifting coaches will supplement overload half squats to build explosiveness & top-end range strength, but it's not a staple of any program. I think the benefits of passing through a full-ROM far outweigh practicing a shortened ROM.
californiagrownI disagree. Partials are a staple for any powerlifter, or anyone trying to bust through a plateau.
Additionally, 1/4 squats are programmed for literally every vertical jump program ever, for a reason.
But i agree that they are an accessory movement meant to supplement a good base of strength in the full ROM.
BenWhitOh, they absolutely serve a purpose. I was responding "nope" as is i have never personally done them, not since the bicep curl days.
what kind of movements do powerlifters perform that aren't actually through full ROM of the lift? I'm not that familiar with the powerlifting work outside of following Mark Bell, Jesse Burdick, and vaguely following Louie Simmons. I'm familiar with board presses, box squats, etc. but if you're reaching lockout, i consider that full ROM.
That's a legit question by the way. not meant to be argumentative.
DlCKAwesome! thanks guys. Ive always used my full range of motion because mobility is so important to me but my right shoulder has impingement issues so I thought maybe if i spend some time doing limited range work that it would negate my ability to go outside of a normal ROM (years of baseball), which causes the impingement.
californiagrownWHENEVER possible use a neutral grip.
cobra_commanderI dont however, see the of benefit for training very short ROM exercises unless you only need to perform in that very short ROM. If you are looking to build either general athleticism and/or a quality physique, a greater and maximal ROM is most likely beneficial.
TheHamburglarfarmer's carry
TheHamburglaryoke stuff,
jblaskiKeven "da hulk" Washington was at the gym tonight. It was absolutely amazing to watch.

mirozHoly shit that was 4 plates on that bench press. 405? Hot damn.
jblaskiFirst one was 4 plates, 405x9
Second is 5 plates, 495x4
BenWhitI have to cut 3.2 lbs by Sunday morning. Never had to last minute cut weight before. Help me.
californiagrownthats easy weight to cut. Just sweat out that weight the morning of, and then replenish the fluids.
saskskierYou've got lots of time. I know guys who've had to cut that much the night before. You shouldn't have any problem at all.
BenWhitOh I know, and there are 1,000 ways to do it. For me, it's all a mental game because I've never had to do it before. I've never been involved in a sport where weight class mattered. So, naturally, it is creating a lot of stress for me.
californiagrownSo do a test run tonight/tomorrow morning. See that it'll be easy and live stress free the rest of the week.
3-4lbs of water weight is nothing. You'll be surprised how easy it is to lose it.
