juicedrummer11thats what they all say when they get started.... oh i just want to be a little stronger here or a little bigger there. for me, i just wanted to be a bit stronger all around and have my relaxed muscles be to the size of my flexed muscles at the time (which was not much). after i got to that point its, oh i want to get my bench/squat/DL/etc up 10 more pounds, i want to be a little rounder here, i need a little more work here, etc.
its a never ending battle, but thats what keeps it interesting
blondie. How much time do you all rest between sets on heavy days of squat/deadlift? How many sets do you take to work up to a 3 rep "max?"
Also: opinions on working out in hoodies? Tried it today and kind of liked the feeling of sweating/running hot.
hey-dude-its-mewhat about the best athletic specimen the sport of basketball has ever seen?
hey-dude-its-meor carmello? or tons of ufc fighters and boxers?

californiagrownSquats i do 6 sets before i get into my work sets. I pull once per week and its after squating so i only do 4 warmup sets before getting into my work sets.
I dont sweat much so i wear a hoodie for probly the first 15-20ish minutes of a workout and then take it off once i have a good sweat going and everything is all loosened up.
californiagrownyou ever seen Lebron as a rookie and lebron last year? its a borderline Bondsian transformation haha. Same with Jordan.
Every single one of those guys busted their asses to get stronger so they wouldnt get beat to hell. Every single athlete wants to get stronger, not at the expense of performance in other aspects of course, but being stronger is a positive thing. Thats all he was saying. and the way to get strong while gaining minimum muscle(ie weight class sports) is to keep the reps very low and the weight very high.
You also should realize that top level athletes, once they reach their physical peak are much more focused on making themeselves durable, and preventing injuries than they are on continuing to become more athletic.

.MASSHOLE.So I have started to count my Macro's (finally, I know) and I have a few questions for people.
I used Strengthcalc.com to help calculate them out. I decided to do it under Lean Gains. My calories per day should be 2675 with 724 being in protein, 585 in fat, and 642 in carbs. In regards to grams that is 181 in protein, 65 in fat, and 161 in carbs.
First off, I am trying to lose weight and using MFP to do so.
What should be daily caloric intake be? Should that alter my macros? Anyone have any suggestion for low-carb high protein breakfasts?
Thanks

BaileyByour math doesnt add up right, 724 + 585 + 642 does not equal 2675 calories, so i dont know what your tryna do with ur macros. As for low carb high protein breakfasts: EGGS.

TheTrapAnybody have any supplements that they've noticed are particularly helpful?
I'm on Amazon right now and I'm about to order creatine and whey. I've found a company that makes a 90% whey isolate and a pure creatine. However with my lifting and football schedule im wondering if i may actually need the other vitamins and minerals in more complex supplements. My idea right now is that if I get these pure supplements and then begin a steady regiment of B vitamins and Omega 3 it should maximize recovery as well as gains. Any insight on this is appreciated.

californiagrownI personally have a hard-on for ZMA. The quality of my sleep is very noticeable increased when i take it. It makes you have some crazy, very vivid dreams though.
Whey isolate is great but super expensive, and not worth the money unless you are a professional physique athlete IMO. I would personally just get ON 100% whey or something similar. Creatine is a wonder drug. Monohydrate is super cheap and gives you THE EXACT SAME RESULTS as all the other different types.
saskskierDefinitely ZMA. I'm all about Cellucor. I haven't had any crazy dreams, but I definitely sleep better. I tried Allmax ZMA, but didn't find it as effective (at least not re: my sleep. I'm sure the overall health benefits are still fine).
JayDopegot a couple more shots from the shoot i did, and meeting with a fitness modeling agency next monday, stttookkkked

Granite_StateCame here to post this. My diet is FUCKED and ive been to the gym 2 times in the last week. I've already dropped 3 lbs...Gotta get back on the grind.
.MASSHOLE.I must be the only one who wants to drop weight in college.
My lifts have all gone up except bench, but I no longer work solely on chest days. Instead, it usually comes after rows, pull-ups, and shoulder presses, so I expect it to lower.
Currently walking around at 177 now, trying to shoot for 170. Lifts are DL-385 (Want that 405), Squat-275 (take it easy because road biking season), BP-245 (down from 255). I want to incorporate more protein into my diet still though. Need to buy some more protein powder soon.

Im hittin up the grocery store today tho so we good
ABallsI have a serious question though mainly directed at Cali grown or jay or sas, I read up more on the GNC Rebel that I've been taking and on the label it says do not take if you're under 18 but then a little later it says do not take if under 40. I don't understand that, I'm 17 so is this dangerous to be taking or is it just more potent than other products because it's created for an older body system? Thanks
ABallsToday was my first real day of senior year and I got 20+ comments on how I look, it felt awesome. Anyways I'm still dropping body fat and it feels great, about to go to the gym in a little bit.

ABalls.
californiagrownWhy are you taking a test supplement? At your age you are essentially on steroids as is with puberty hormones still hitting hard. Tribulus and other test supps are made for dudes in there 30's and 40's who are slowing down.
What are you looking to get out of the supplement?
ABallsDidn't purchase it as a test booster, I walked in GNC and asked the guy what supplement can help me with cutting and he pointed right at it. I did a bit more looking into it and it doesn't seem like the right thing for me. Would you recommend counting macros?
.MASSHOLE.This is a question directed more towards bodybuilding rather than powerlifting, but is there way to achieve more muscular symmetry or is that just genetics?
JayDopewhat do you exactly mean?
.MASSHOLE.Well, lets say my left pec is less defined than my right one. Or that my left tricep is less defined than my right one. Is that genetics or just due to me having a stronger right side
