Sdot.Okay so I see a major problem here: you talked about how you're broke and can' afford supplemental protein, and then you mention you're doing the "old fashioned" way and list two fats and two carbohydrates. Almonds and peanut butter are great fats, and rice and potatoes are great carbs, but I sure hope you're eating tons of fish, chicken, lean red meat, and turkey for your protein intake everyday, or else you're not doing yourself any good.
hey-dude-its-methis is like whats wrong with ppl arguing for the legalization of weed instead of saying 'its not that bad' they say 'its perfect'
ABallsThese calluses fucking hurt

kerry.Getting back to Crossfit tomorrow for the summer after having to stop for going to school. Haters gonna hate but I'm stoked
Granite_StateIm gonna hate because crossfit is stupid. Proof:

kerry.Hahaha, the grandma one was hilarious and I was cringing the whole video, but stupid people will be stupid and extremes will be taken. I feel luckier/better about it my self because I already have a lot of weightlifting experience and I know how not to go overboard.
The biggest part for me is having a set time and group of people I can go in, get a good workout and be done. Lately it's been hard to get friends to the gym and I love having some motivation and structure. Plus learning handstands, muscle ups, and having a wide open gym to work with is pretty sweet in my opinion. I understand why people hate it, but if it's done properly and not taken further when it shouldn't be, then I enjoy it.

Granite_StateNah in reality I really don't care. I will never do it but I seriously won't bash people that do.
And I agree with the motivation aspect, I have such better workouts when I have someone there pushing me. AS of now Ive been going by myself (mainly because all my friends are in NH, MA, NJ, and CT) while im here in VT by myself. Dont mind it though, I also enjoy working out by myself. Learned quite a few good workouts from friends this past school year that I'll be using over the summer.

.MASSHOLE.Anyone else erg for a cardio workout? Shit is tough.
.MASSHOLE.Tore my fucking callous on my left hand right down so it bled doing deadlifts yesterday. God damn I hate when that happens. Timed it well though, have to let my wrist recover so it will just be squats for me.

soccerzla7Yeah I actually just bought one for $400 which I thought I couldn't beat
saskskierYou're talking about a rower? Probably one of the the worst workouts I've done (and puked after) was 5x500m rowing sprints. Times ranges between around 1:30 and 1:49. Nothing but pain...
I'm trying to figure out a way to get my parents C2 rower (which they rarely use) into my possession, but they aren't willing to give it up yet...
louie.miragsHey 9-5ers,(I work 8-5) do you guys prefer hitting the gym before or after work?
cobra_commanderNice work. 4 plates feels good doesn't it?
Where do you lift at?
Toasty.Feels amazing. My goal was to get that by my birthday in a month and a half.
At a YMCA.. best and biggest gym around here though. But sucks cause I pay a lot for a membership because of all the stuff you can use. Pool, basketball court, workout classes.. etc that i dont ever touch.

CirilloGet a pumice stone and a good moisturizer.
ABallsWell I mean coffee isn't the best for you either but that's besides the point. I've just always been taught through sports that taking something that will increase your heart rate before an activity that will raise your heart rate anyways could be dangerous. When I go to the gym my heart pumps fast and personally I feel like a pre workout would make it a little unsafe. I probably shouldn't have hated on pre workout in here since I'm guessing most of you take it but that's just my two cents. Also, when I do hiit I'm almost redlining with my heart rate anyways, I don't need anything that would get it going faster.
zzzskizzzYou're what 16? You can pretty much increase your heart rate all you want, and you'll be fine. Once you hit 55 then it can case problems, There are 100's of different kinds of pre-work outs so some are much better than others. As for coffee in the right doses it actually has medical benefits.
Toasty.Pulled up 405 today which blew my mind. Yes i was using a belt and straps. And don't mind that my head looks like its about to explode.
ABallsGood guess, 17, which pre workouts are you talking about? I've just been really tired lately so I'm looking for something to energize me for a few hours.

hey-dude-its-mehadn't been to the gym in a week also hadn't taken creatine in a week and noticed my definition got better without it so I think Im going to stop it for the summer
inb4 'creatine has nothing to do with it and a week isnt even long enough'

ABallsYa you put on the water weight and then drop it when you stop using the creatine. How are you taking it? Is it in your pre workout or are you just taking straight supplements of it? Oh and do you think it's effective?
.MASSHOLE.Creatine adds water to the muscles I believe. It would make sense definition got better if you didnt take it for some time.
tusken_assraiderhmm not massively we're talking adding water at a cellular level, which would increase cell size and therefore increase definition
cobra_commanderCreatine is pretty harmless. I'd encourge most folks to try it for a few months.
Know the difference between creatine and preworkouts with creatine in them.
Many people are quick to blast creatine because they had a bad experience with something like no-xplode. Maybe it's all the other shit in there, or the fact that you are taking something labeled as 'blue-raspberry.' Anyone ever seen a blue raspberry before?

ABallsWell that's discouraging, I just bought some no xplode which is pretty hypocritical since I bashed pre workout on the previous page. Anyways I'm going to the gym in a few hours and I'm excited to try it.
-benedettoDo you not feel motivated enough to go? Only take one scoop at first or else you'll be real jittery and not feel yourself. Also, late in the day, it may be way too hard to go to sleep. I don't recommend preworkouts at all but what do I know?
