Replying to "Official" Ski Durability Thread
In the process of searching for a new pair of skis, I have searched for threads on different skis' durability. There are plenty of them on this iste, but I found that they were a pain in the ass to go through and tell which were helpful and not. Also, there is little quantitative measure of "durability." Many of these threads say information such as "this ski is durable" or "it lasted a long time," which are not actually overly useful.
So, I propose that this thread be used for people to post about skis that they have ridden AND SINCE RETIRED. The goal is to show how long a ski lasts before you stop using it. We can use a common measure of durability and give the same info about each ski so that we can compare apples to apples between different ski models.
Stuff to include:
>Ski, model year, and size
>Type of skiing done on the ski (i.e. park, all mountain, backcountry, urban, etc.)
>Total number of DAYS on the ski (this should be the number of days you used the skis before they were retired)
>Extent to which the ski was used before it was retired (i.e. until truly un-skiable, until edges ripped out, until delam occurred, etc.)
>any other important info we should know (i.e. youre really heavy, you have a tendency to destroy skis, you go full am when you ski, etc)
Hopefully this will help some people out! If it turns out this is a bad idea, let it die. I think it could be pretty useful though.
