Filthy rich durability

Topsheet chipping happens on all skis...there isn't really a way to stop it. It has to do with fresh sharp edges, when you fall or cross your skis the edge clips the topsheet and shaves a bit off. The best thing to do is take a file to the topsheet after it's slightly chipped to take off any small chips that will continue to peel. Eventually the edges will wear down and the topsheet won't chip anymore. The only way to really stop it would be to dull your edges from tip to tail before you even go skiing the first time on them...but that's no fun.

When people talk about durability, they're not really talking about topsheet durability because all skis chip and it doesn't effect the performance of the ski.

Topsheet effects nothing.

Well no, as the top sheet wears and chips away eventually you will be down to the core. Once this happens water will get in and your skis will begin to rot from the inside.

Its a problem of full sidewall skis. The 90degree edge on top is alot more likely top catch and chip then a cap construction. Its the disadvantage of going full sidewall. But the advantages I would say are overall worth it. I think the best construction though, is the 50 50 cap sidewall, as this gives the best of both.

Bought my first set of jmos thinking the same thing. Got a whole season out of the first pair. Edge tore out and the tip snapped after about 30 days. Bought another pair, skied 5 days on them, heel piece tore out, ski delammed all the way to the tail. Overall, on3p makes a great ski. But they aren't as bomb proof as everybody things

Just curious, but did you email us for a warranty? I cannot imagine we wouldn't replace a ski that delammed all the way to the tail (not sure exactly what that means, either, but I can't remember a ski ever delamming from the heal piece to the tail if that is what you meant here). Just figured I would ask.

As with any product, something shit happens. I would say, as a rule, ON3P makes far more durable skis than most of the stuff out there. Doesn't mean everyone has the same experience, but the vast majority do.

So far this year, we've warranty less than 5 pairs, total. Both the past two years, it was less than 10 pairs per year when all was said and done.

Hitting lots of rails is still going to cause damage to your edges. We do use a 2.5mm x 2.5mm edge, so it gives you longer life vs the standard edge thickness most everyone uses. That said, the wear and tear of hitting rails will have the same long term effect as with a standard edge. With the edges ON3P uses, it just takes longer to get there.

As for topsheet chipping, our edges are sharp and as with any ski built in a sandwich construction, sidewall chipping can be an issue. We hand bevel the topsheet in house and do a better job at it than most skis I've seen, but there is only so much we can do.

Periodically running over the edge of the topsheet with a file or a sanding black, especially when the skis have a bit of damage to them already, will help prevent the chipping from getting worse.

For what it is worth, too, we've made big jumps in our quality control and manufacturing process each year, so even if you did have an issue with a ski that was made 2 or 3 years ago, the issues that caused problems then are largely taken care of now. The more things we've taken in house, the better the skis have become, and I'm not uncomfortable saying that I would put our current build and finish quality up against any other ski out there.

Had my filthy riches for 10 days and the front tip cracked through the core and topsheet off of a very low impact landing. Very disappointed.

I fucking love my 2014 4bi9 filthies. sure the top sheet chips a little but who cares! after close the 50 days of use, I have one tiny little edge crack from fucking up on a disaster and a wierd tumor on both tips of my skis from hitting them against the support of a rail when I fell off. great skis, definitely insanely durable. love em
