Thread title pretty much says it all. Snowpants are unnecessary. I can understand needing them for skiing pow, but other than that, what is the purpose? they arent usually insulted, so they arent providing any additional warmth compared to jeans or khakis. i think companies invented them simply to generate a profit and now everybody wears them just because its the norm on a ski mountain. The truth of the matter is that snow pants are unnecessary, ugly, bulky, and unnecessary. Think about it. you dont wear snow pants out on the town, to work, or to the grocery store..so why do you wear them while skiing? its not like youre rolling around in the snow, and unless you eat shit constantly, theres no functional purpose to using a water resistant pant. I havent worn them in years, and it feels great. i just throw off my skis and boots, put on my shoes, and im good to go. no difference between on and off hill transition. plus, snowpants are usually so baggy, and we all can agree that style is fugly.
