steezy_dogeanyone tell me what the weight is like on the filthys i have heard they are pretty heavy compared to like the punx for example or infamous
Chubz.I'm in the market for a new ski and the kartel really caught my eye..it looks like the ideal ski for me! Now..im just wondering how soft they are? I want something i can play around on and butter all the time. I ski a lot of park but i like to play around all over the mountain, and i want a fat ski to do it! Im also moving out west next year and want a ski that can handle basically everything
I watched this video:

And it really made me want to buy a pair of jmos/kartels so much more! Is the kartel 106 anything like the jmo in that vid?

gnar_whalI'm getting the kartel 106, but I'm wondering his they are in the park like on rails and stuff. And 181 or 176? I'm 5'10 and 160
BWalmerKutcher was using them at Windells for a bit this summer. They're fun in the park, just a bit slower at spinning than the 98/FR/Prester. As far as size, it comes down to how you plan on using them as a whole and what your ability level is, but I would lean towards the 181 at your size (although you're on the lighter side, so it is tough).
gnar_whalI plan on using them as my all mountain jib ski. I'm an aggressive skier, I want them to be good on groomers and crud( I live on Michigan) but good in the park as well.
RudyGarmischThe two skis (Jmo and Kartel) are very similar skis - besides the shape change required to offer it in two waist widths, I belive the goal was to make all of the other specs from the Jmo carry over.
DeRizzoI have Kartel 98's and I'm actually skiing them tomorrow for the first time. They feel pretty stiff now but with the rocker they actually flex a lot easier. Also just skiing them and flexing them will make them softer. I'll report back tomorrow night to tell you about them after I ski.
HeadyTopperIm 5"8 150 and should i go with kartel 106 in 176 or 171. I ski glades a lot and some park
Micah-WI have 181 filthy riches and I'm 6 foot 130 lbs. are they too big? I'm looking for a size that will spin pretty easy but not give out on harsh landings.
gnar_whalDoes anyone have JMOs they want to sell me?
brotoI have a pair of 11/12 jmos with 140+ days on em, no edge underfoot on one ski and mounted with griffons that are 4 seasons deep and pre-release like a bitch.
:)

Chubz.thanks for answering. I know the the kartel is kinda the jmo's predecessor..i just want something i can play around with all over the mountain while still being able to have the flex that was in that video
DeRizzoThey are sick yo.
I honestly didn't do too much since it was my first day out but I really like them. They are a bit stiff now, however they'll get softer as I continue to ride them. I actually was surprised because I'm 5'9" and weigh around 140 but the 181's were really not hard to swing around at all. Although I only did a couple 2's off of rails and 3's they were quicker than I anticipated.
RudyGarmischPilots in WW2 took photos of planes that were shot to hell on missions but still made it back to base with unbelievable damage - still flew. Propose a similar thing, current users should post a photo of thier thrashed ON3P with a total day count/estimate.

DeRizzoOh and I forgot to mention ^
DAMN ON3P THE TOPSHEETS CHIP SO EASILY. I honestly don't care too much about that since it doesn't really have an effect on the ski's performance but still.
J.D.Get a razorblade and shave the corners down so they don't catch as easy. Worked for me.
gnar_whalWere you on the cartel 106 or 98? and did you like the 181 for your size?
Chubz.Bruh thanks for tellin me!! Im not too worried about swing weight since the most ill do are 2s and the occaisonal 4..and 3s and 5s

iggyskierThe skis come with a good hand bevel on the sidewalls - multiple pulls with a razor blade, then palm sander, then cleaned with sanding pads. But as with any sandwich construction ski, when you have sharp metal edges against a plastic topsheet, the edges win every time (especially when the skis are brand new and the edges are still very sharp).
The nylon we are using now is the most durable we have found, but there is only so much we can do. If you ski with your feet together or do tons and tons of ski crossing, any sandwich construction ski will have topsheet chipping.
We do find that the damage decreases as the edges detune a bit. With our demo fleet, we often see the worst topsheet damage is in the first 3-5 days when the edges are really sharp (plus they are demos, so people don't care about abusing them) and that once the edges aren't as sharp, the topsheet damage lessens considerably.
When damage happens, cleaning it up with a razor and sander/sanding block/file will decrease the change at more damage considerably.
DeRizzoP.S. I bought my skis in the shop and could really use a couple stickers to put on my car and helmet. If you could get me some that would me much appreciated.
SteveIrwinIm looking to get a new pair of skis preferably from on3p.
160lbs
5'10"
advanced skier
I already own a pair of filthy riches for park so im looking for something for everything out of the park. I want a ski that can ski groomers decent for the limited amount of time i spend on them. i would also want something that can handle few fresh powder days i get per year aswell as the crud and skied out conditions that come after them.
After doing some research i was thinking that 181 jeffry 114s would be the right choice. but im interested in other peoples opinions
BWalmerThe Jeffery 114 is my go to All-Mountain/Powder ski (basically, when I know rails aren't happening, I'm on the Jeffery). Wide enough to handle a substantial amount of powder, still fun on groomers, and still really fun off jumps. They're like steamrollers through crud, but still nimble enough to carve them out. Basically, they're one of the most fun pairs of skis on the market today.
gnar_whalyou guys need to set up a dealer in Michigan. Please!!!!!! Hookup with Don Thomas Sporthaus if you do, they are the best in Michigan.
iggyskierWorking on it! If anyone ever has shops they would suggest, post them up and make sure to let you shop know they should bring us in. We are working on adding lots of retailers all over the world, but it takes time.
It helps a lot when customers of ours (or people wanting to buy the skis) go in and let the shops know they should bring us in.
SteveIrwinwhat size of jeffrey do you ride and whats your height and weight?
gnar_whalI will definately talk to them, I would love to have On3p come to Michigan!
PudgeIs that Japow trip planned for January or did it happen last year and the footy hasn't dropped yet?
Also tease us with info about the RES jib
PudgeI love the commotion caused by bringing ON3P's into a shop. This was my first time at a new shop and none of them have heard of the brand.
It was like a teacher bringing her newborn baby into the school when she's on maternity leave and everyone freaks out.
But it does appear that Fire on the Mountain in Dover, NH is very interested in learning more about them. Would be sick to see them carry them!

NigelSteinKartel 106s came in, so stoked! Thanks for the kickass ski! As far as mounting goes, is the little indent in the sidewall near the ON3P info box (serial number, length etc) the reccomended mounting point? Thanks
HeadyTopperIs there anyone that is pro-center mounting cartel 106s?
joelskiit would be awesome if a shop in vancouver or whistler had on3p.
