TLDR: The RCMP has made it illegal to own the Swiss Arms classic green carbine,
1000-1800 of which are currently owned by Canadians. Up until about 2 hours ago they were perfectly legal, costing somewhere between 3000 and 4000 dollars. Owners must surrender the weapons, with no compensation.
This is just a little ridiculous, considering it was the RCMP that approved them for sale, and their no more dangerous than the many other rifles available for sale in Canada. Also god dammit, I'd have really liked to own one of these if I one day had the dosh. And im sure there's gonna be at least some people who won't surrender them, secure in the knowledge that the long gun registry was supposedly destroyed, which could get some otherwise law-abiding citizens some hefty jail time, since the RCMP still has records of it. This is sum bullshit, and no doubt not that last time the RCMP is gonna fuck with Canadian gun owners. The way things are going I better get my RPAL real soon.
