How much of a difference does it make to move bindings back in pow?

I've got some marker schizos and am finally getting to put the kung Fujas to the test in powder! I was wondering if it would make much of a difference if I moved them from 6+ back to traditional? Would skiing be easier or is it so marginal it doesn't matter? Oh and the reason I'm asking is because it feels awkward to be so far back after being used to skiing them at 6+ for so long....

This may sound dumb but I thought +6 would mean 6 ahead of true center? Are you saying that your bindings were closer to the front of your ski than the back?? If so then 1. What the hell 2. Not good for pow.
When I think of bindings being mounted for pow I think of a speedboat. Notice how when it moves it tilts back? Having your bindings set back will allow your skis to float on pow just as a speedboat floats on water.

Hahaha no I mean like they're +6 from the recommended mounting point, so they're about -2 from true and what you're saying is move em?

They will float significantly better at recommended. If it feels too funky, just go to -3 from center.

Yeah probably a bit back to recommended. I probably woldn't go more than 2 or 3 further forewords than that for pow

If the bindings were mounted properly they should have it so at the furthest forward setting, your boot mid sole is right on true center of the ski (for park). Then you can go anywhere from -2 to -4 cm back from that for all mountain. -5 or -6 cm back from true center for pow. And it does make a big difference. Your tips will stay up more, and you can lean forward more (while still keeping tips up,not slowing down much)= more control.
From true center to back 6cm from that is pretty much the useable range of the ski. You pretty much will never want to go ahead of true center, and rarely if ever more than 6cm back. I don't know for kung fujas specifically, but I'd guess the reccomended mark is about 2-4cm back from true center
All times are Eastern (-4); Currently it's 1:07PM
