Thats the beauty of a republic, its not majority rule, so regardless of what the majority says, the government cant create laws that discriminate, just because the population wants to (obviously thats not the way it is now, "civil rights" laws discriminate)
And in America, we did have racist policies up until around the 60's, enforcing racial segregation in restaurants, busses, separate bathrooms, schools, parks, housing, etc. there are probably hundreds of examples of government policies that enforced racism and segregation. Regardless of if the people were racist or not, the policies encouraged it. If we were a true free country that respected everyones natural rights, rather than creating policies that enforce racial segregation like there were up until the 60's and even now with the "quota" type laws, and punished any person or business that interfered with anybody's rights, it would have been an entirely different society.
all we do with these policies trying to force racism out of our culture, is just trade one racial tension or segregation for another.
If people were allowed to only serve who they wanted in the south, i do not think it would turn back the clock 60 years, because like i said, our nation, ESPECIALLY the south, had tons of racial segregation based laws. if we had no racially based policies at all (meaning the government stayed out of anything based on race, you could serve who you wanted etc..) I think it would stay about the same. I've been to parts of the south quite a bit and its really not as racist as its made out to be, only a couple certain, mega hillbilly, sketchy ass areas still have any racism thats very blatant.
