hum, shut the fuck up?
seriously dude, freeskiing is all about having fun, find some friends you can ride with, have a good time, film some of your shit if you find that interesting and never forget, wether it's pow, park or urban, to have fun and not to rush your progression.
If you're looking for new tricks to learn, just watch edits, scope out grabs that you could see yourself confortable with or not too complicated tricks that you think look awesome.
Progressing in freestyle is literally endless and there are so many different path you can take:
- You like boxes/rails a lot? then you can try scissoring, more spins on and off... or you can gap parts of the box, tail tap...and once you're comfy on them, you can come up yourself with tricks you think are cool, and feel good to stomp!
-You prefer jumps? you can go on bigger kickers and try new grabs with no spins (I've been into freeskiing for 2-3 years after coming from a racing background and hitting the big kickers with some new grabs, different tweaks can take up a whole day of skiing for me!). Or you can stay on the smaller ones and try to go bigger on your 3s, tuck more (which can then lead to corks) or try to put a grab in them, or take them to 5s...
And that's only a portion of what you can progress in, it all depends on what you like, what you think would feel good and make you happy! They are so many different things you can work on (and still so much without having to invert or spin over 1000°), that I often write down some tricks that I'd wanna learn. Recently I got around doing butter 3s over a fat box, a trick that isn't a "official" trick, just something i thought would feel cool to try!
Anyway, way too long post to tell you that there are no set rules here, freeskiing is free (duh) and that means learn/do/get better at whatever you wanna do within your capabilities and before you know it, you'll tell yourself, oh, that trick that guy just threw looks dope, I wanna be able to stomp it, and if you've followed your path of progression at your own rate and taken it where you wanted it to be, then with a bit of work you'll get it too.
so go out there, get stoked, have fun and ride switch!
