I was just searching through the forums and it struck me that there were no traces of an official Top Gear thread. Now what the fuck, I say. Therefore, I hereby declare this official Top Gear thread opened. Oh cock. Share your favorite moments, whether it's good or awesome. Or superb. Which we all know it will be.
Just cheated and jumped from Series 8 to the latest episode because I was stoked to see Aaron Paul and this episode was breathtaking. The videography is off the charts from where it used to be; and I love that they are still pushing boundries, offending people and just being straight hilarious in the newest episodes.
I am unhappy they aren't going to be doing the laps with the 918 and the P1 until sometime in summer. I thought it sounded like it was going to be later in this series. Absolutely mind blowing cars though.
(Hmm... Maybe they are holding off so they can get a LaFerrari in there too...?)
I've been out of the recent car news and hadn't even heard of the 918 until this episode. That interior was jaw-dropping and I thought it'd be cool to aspire to own one someday. Nevermind.
Possibly, but they mostly want to have the same conditions for both cars, so the track has to be dry and they preferably have to do their lap's one after the other to prevent fanboy's from yelling at them, so they have to get both cars (and possibly the Ferrari) at the same time.
Besides that I really have no clue which would actually be the faster car, C. Harris preferred the P1 and it was unofficially timed to be a whopping 10sec. faster at the Nurburgring. But that all gives little indication to what the times on Top Gear's Lotus build airfield track would amount to.
Idk if you guys follow speedhunters but they just did this awesome write-up on the Koenigsegg One:1. With only 5 cars being produced it'll be hard for Top Gear to get their hands on one but I'm sure they'll find a way. I'd love to see what they say about it.
Clarkson climbed out of window of moving car he was driving with Richard Hammond and James May sitting in the back
Silly stunt; Jeremy Clarkson
Top Gear has been blasted by viewers for a stunt that saw Jeremy Clarkson climb out of a car he was driving.
He got out of one window, went over the roof and into the other while Richard Hammond and James May sat in the back. He called it, “doing a lap of your own car”.
The trio filmed themselves as their “teenage” bosses had banned them from doing it.
They also swapped seats and raced in a supermarket.
Seven people complained but 5.3 million viewers tuned in on average, the highest for a launch episode since 2011.
As I've said before, complaining is the third national British past time, after queuing and drinking tea with the queen. So only 7 letters is very much below their average.
Meh, not nearly as good as it used to be. I don't really care much for their opinions on the cars they drive. They feel like artificial gear heads now.
Thats why I watch it. I watch it for the humor and to see some sweet cars. To be honest, even in my wildest dreams, I would not want to drive a lot of those cars. They are just TOO flashy for me. The R8 or Panamera would be fine.
I've been a big Top Gear UK fan for a long time, but noticed something odd/interesting today.
Everyone remember the Vietnam special where they all ride motorbikes? Remember the backup bike they had? The little Red/White/Blue mini bike that was blaring Bruce Springsteen's "BORN IN THE USA!"
I just rewatched that episode today on netflix and noticed that they edited out the all the "BOooORN IN THE USA" parts and replaced it with the national anthem. No more Bruce at all in the episode. I wonder if they lost the licensing rights somehow or what? Never seen anything edited so long after the fact/release. I personally liked it better before...it was more funny/offensive than the national anthem.

Anyone else catch that?
Correct me if I'm wrong but in the UK fair dealing exists, and tv/radio shows can show excerpts from pretty much anything with acknowledgement.
In the U.S. you would probably need a license to use Bruce's song, but in the U.K. you can get away with it for a few seconds especially if it's from comedic effect.
Of course BBC is not going to pay license fees themselves for older season broadcasted abroad.

Thats what I thought honestly. But that doesn't answer my question. It must have gotten pulled from the episode for another reason than. Wonder why...

I just started it up on a couple of different euro services, every single one has "born in the usa", so it's probably most definitely a licensing issue in the U.S.

Not surprising, only in America, home of the lawyer. Good call though.
Just saw the Patagonia Special and man was it epic! The Bolivia special was always my favorite, but this new one takes the cake easily. So good. Crazy ending too...

Agreed. This one was pretty awesome. I think my favourite specials are:
Botswana (Oliver!)
Vietnam
Bolivia
America (Florida to New Orleans)
Then the other ones in no particular order. I like them all.
TRAGIC NEWS: Top Gear might be getting pulled down from Netflix at the end of the month!
Apparently word on the street is that the contract between Netflix and the BBC ends at the end of the month and a new one has yet to be signed. Nothing is official yet, but it looks like Top Gear might be getting pulled off, which would be awful.

This was such a good read, it's unreal to see how much innovation and tech is integrated into this car. The average driver weights more that the carbon fibre tub.
kshaughnOne of the worst troll jobs I have seen in a long time.
And yet you follow my posts almost religiously. Well done for falling again and again to one of the worst troll jobs you've seen in a long time... or maybe just maybe, you're the troll.

Following you religiously? I had just posted on this thread a couple of hours before you and I wanted to see if anyone had replied to it. Since I posted before you, that would mean you are following me, creep.

Also, by definition, falling for your troll job would mean that I would have believed you when you said Top Gear US was the real Top Gear. Since I called you out for trolling, that would insinuate that I didn't fall for the troll.

You care way too much and no one cares that much to follow your posts. BTW nice house. I wouldn't have expected someone as dimwitted as you living in such a spacious crib. You better sleep with a rubber on because I'll be cumming.
