For some reason flipping is so much easier and more fun. flat 3 is twice as easy as normal 3. Does anyone agree? I have a lot more trouble with straight spins.
I can throw frontflips but I still can't throw 3's nor do I have the balls to. Upright spins scare the shit out of me and I'd way rather try some tricks like misty 5 or backflip before I get tossing 3's. I think it mostly has to do with hooking on the takeoff... Any 3's I have tried I've hooked to death and have been a pussy ever since.
I see what your saying, but I have to disagree. At lest for me, flips are way scarier than spins. The edge thing i get, but you can still mess up way worse on flips than spins
Trust me, when you figure out the correct way to spin, there is almost no different between them in terms of scariness. When you set the spin the right way, you should be almost off the lip so catching an edge never happens.
In my case i much prefer to spin, but when starting i did find myself catching from time to time. I suppose you get used to the correct motions through trial and error but once you can do 'em it feels EPIC!
when i first started to spin i would always catch my tails and even now i sometimes do. I also never know where i am in the air. Like when i spin should i look an the ground wit my head back and just whip the head and spot at the end? also i find it hard for me to whip anything more that a 7 off a jump
im scared to do both lol. i dont even try flipping but i do try and huck spins and i fall a lot because i just pop and spin and hope i land straight.. spotting landing is hard for me. i try and do it but everything just turns 2-dimensional when im trying to look. im much more comfortable on rails
yeah, flips are certainly more intimidating than spinning, until you get into the more technical stuff like 540's and corks, i can double backflip but cant cork 7
hell yeah dude, after like 270 degrees through the spin of a flat 3 i have full vision of the landing. i also prefer flats because you can easily choose to go for 3 or 5 depending on what you see when youre spotting. even landing 450 isnt bad with flatspins cause you can easily butter it right around on virtually any jump up to 50ft.
I think falling spinning would hurt worse, so it scares me more. What if you don't make it all the way around? In flipping, you'll usually land on you belly or back and slide, but if you don't full-rotate or over-rotate a spin, your skis could catch and I feel like it could really fuck up your knees
I cant recall the last straight spin I did since I learned backies three seasons ago. I just progressed with inverted tricks rather than forward upright spins. That being said I am much more comfortable spinning in the switch even though I was never authorized to do so. I can spin a switch 5 pretty easy but I don't think I've even attempted a forward straight 5.
I am literally in awe at you guys who can rodeo, cork and flip easier than spinning. I feel like technically the strength and risk factor are both higher for inverted.
yes. I can spin 3 and 5's, sometimes 7, but i find corking a 7 easier, I find it really hard to stay on axis while spinning straight.. man I did dub back and dub 9 before i did a regular 7! I think I did backies before 3's as well.
In the pipe it's even worse, I cant figure out how to spin regular 5, but flairs and ally oop rodeos and stuff is fine.. but guess that's a different story.
Do enough of one kind of a trick and it becomes easy. I find a corked 9 way easier than a normal 9. Lol, in fact I've never done a normal 9 on purpose. And flat 5 and underflip 5 come way more naturally to me than a normal 5, not to mention an unnatural 5. Dat shit be hard.
i disagree, then a dub back would be harder than a straight 7. it's not really a "flip is easier" kind of deal, there are a lot of different flips, and a lot of different spins. but i do have to say i was doing flat 3s before proper 3s. I can send a 10 but have yet to do a dub10...
