Core shot repair

Hi,
I got a pretty big core shot on the bottom of ski today and my brake fell off as well. Would I be able to fix the core shot personally or should I bring it to professionals? Also how much do you imagine it would costs?

I got a core shot last season and took it to a shop. They put ptex/base material in it and then filed it down, it seemed pretty simple. I guess it depends on how confident you are when it comes to repairing skis. It cost me 60 bucks at the shop I went to by the way, but it probably depends on the size

^60 bucks?! My god. If the shot doesn't splinter any wood, all that you need is a ptex candle and some very basic repair skills. If the base is torn up, you can cut out the section and with a bit of knowledge fill it back in. On the other hand, if it has made a significant mark in the core material, I would recommend taking it to a shop.

at our shop for 45 bucks wed do a full tune, so hand tune edges, p-tex stuff, weld any big patches etc.

if its a big core shot its worth it to have a shop do it, make sure they have a base welder. welding is less likely to pull out than dripping

I just got 2 core shots this past weekend. I've never had one before so I'm just wondering how urgent it is to get fixed? Like if I skied friday and then got it fixed saturday, would that be alright? Or would riding on them make it worse? Sorry if it's a dumb question. It's just never happened to me before haha.

get it done at a shop. if you do it yourself the p-tex will just fall out with in a week. i would get it done sooner rather the later other wise the hole will get bigger or you will risk damaging your core.

Usually it gets worse if you ski on it, especially if you are skiing park on it or any possible rock/tree exposure. Honestly when i have gotten them in the past i feel that it i can feel it when im skiing and its just not a good feel so i would get it fixed before skiing.
