Are they that good? I see a ton if park riders using them, but constantly seeing threads of them being a fucked up. What's the issue with them? How do they compare to marker griffons?
I've literally never had a problem with mine, been on the FKS platform for 5 seasons now...I refuse to ride a different binding.
I've been on Markers that the toe piece has exploded (nothing like going down a groomer at a decent speed and looking down to watch your binding blow up into pieces and have just enough time to say "fuck" before eating shit. I've had too many trust issues with STH bindings, I used to think very highly of them, but I've had too many pull outs with them and I've had trouble with toe wiggle on them. The reason you probably hear so many problems with them is because of all the people that ride them...if the majority of skiers ride them, you're gonna hear about them in the majority.
Im one my 7th season on a pair of gold FKS 120 race mounted on AR6s and i have never once had a single whif of a problem. also have 140s mounted on AR7s and zero troubles. many urbans, cliffs, moguls, big jumps, glades, and general park skiing has been done on both pairs. they are great, I would never ride anything else
The main reason theres so many threads about them is that its hard to get replacement parts for them. Thats not to say that they aren't any less durable that others.
I love my FKS's, and ill probably never ride another binding. The only issues with it is when it's mounted, there isn't much you can change. Brake swapping is very difficult, and they don't have a lot of available motion. That said, they have a ton of elasticity, and are super durable.
