So things have been getting really weird in my house

Thats a theory we considered but squirrels arent active in the middle of the night, and even if tehy were there would have to be literally hundreds in the trees above us constantly hurling rocks at 20mph at a rate of 3 per second. Unlikely.


The most logical theory is that there were other campers on the island illegally, that decided they would torment us. But even that is far fetched since we explored the entire island earlier that evening and didnt see any signs of other people, meaning they would have had to arrive after 10 at night, and even so there would need to be an army of people in the woods to produce the hailstorm of pinecones and rocks that showered down on us, someone would have seen someone else in the woods it just doesnt make sense

for what its worth, during hunting season i have to paddle a canoe across a private murky lake in Michigan, every morning i would wake up hook a flashlight to my hunting vest & paddle across with my shotgun on my back. The freaky part was imagining friday the 13th at the end when the canoe gets flipped over. there was just enough fog, and the water is just dark enough to make my imagination feel real. finally when i make it across the scariest part is being able to look through my scope and see tombstones from an old family the lake is named after from the 1800's. Just the fact i need to get to my stand before sun rise, and i cant leave until sunset, means i will always feel like im being spied on while i find my way back to my canoe.

Dudleytown was largely a local "attraction," many locals have various stories regarding traveling, hunting, or hiking and a brave few who have spent nights in the woods. There used to be an annual Halloween mtn bike trip up there.

All that started to change as word about the site started to spread in the early 1990s. Subsequently, all manner of freakshows including wiccan people, witches, satanists, etc began trying to use the area for sacrifices and weird shit in general.

So--Dudleytown is now nothing but a bunch of ruined foundations, no structures stand. It is isolated up in the hills and must be hiked too. The trails are largely overgrown.

If you go to these two access points you will be seen, that in and of itself is eerie, and either the cops will come or a local will show up and literally chase you down the road. This, I'm not joking about.

The Dark Entry Forest Society (yes, it is that odd sounding and I think that is the right wording) is a coalition of homeowners which surround the Dark Forest and its access points. Because of all the above-mentioned freak shows and increased traffic they do not allow access.

There are two routes around this, a lengthy and confusing trail-less hike that goes near a creepy old cave, go figure. You would need old topo maps that you can't find anywhere and compass skills. And out of respect for the area I grew up in I won't tell you anything else.

The second is the Dark Entry group does issue passes that will get you access. But these are pretty much only granted out of respect to OG locals. Inquiring or trying to get one is worthless, especially if you live out of town. As a matter of fact, I'm not even sure they'll still issue any. You also can't use someone else's passes. Whoever they're issued to must accompany anyone they share one of their other passes with.

All told, having grown up a stone's throw from there, it is some very creepy woods. I have had some strange experiences there. For instance, hiking near there one day I paused to get some water and noticed the woods were dead silent, dead. silent. , for 5 minutes until a sparrow came through. Not a cracking stick, a breeze, a rustling leaf. That happens frequently. Our dogs have never wandered over there.

A friend of my father's had an offer to purchase a cabin in some nearby hills for dead cheap. He wanted a remote cabin to hunt from and this was about a mile in from the road near those woods. He opted to stay the night to get a feel for it. We're talking burly carpenter/hunter guy. Once night fell his dog got skittish, his candles wouldn't stay lit, things kept hitting the outside of the cabin, and he never went back after leaving at dawn.

In the vicinity there is also what used to be a psychiatric ward type place. My father showed up to do a consult on the place and noticed the floor plan didn't match the foundation outline as he checked out the basement. Checking the walls he noticed one was hollow sounding. He and another guy took sledgehammers and took down the wall. Someone had bricked over a room where nothing but a wood burning stove was. The door on the stove was exceptionally large, large enough to fit a human body in.

There's a lot of lore about the place and if you all would like I can dredge up some more ghost stories!

But simply put, a lot of those woods can be eerie. The sort of thing where you're walking a long and all of the sudden you pause: you feel watched, like something's wrong, it's eerie. Maybe it's part of the lore, maybe it's not.

Now that everyone has their story, first a little background. my grandfather was a horse breeder down in southern,IL. I spent most of my youth down on the farm. In the 1920's coal mining was a big deal down here, and during the summer of 1922 all the workers went on strike. The mining company said fuck that, and brought in non-union workers while the strike went on. This angered the local population, and soon a violent battle broke out. Ill spare all the details, but here is the end game. The locals won the battle, capturing all the upstate non union workers. Then the locals marched the miners out of town and massacred most of them, people were running for their lives through our woods being chased, gunned down, hanged and shit. Not all of the details are incredibly clear. If your more interested in the story, look up bloody williamson county.

Sunken Gardens Michigan

Near where I grew up and lived for years is a cemetery that is pretty much like a thousand other cemeteries around the United States. There are manicured lawns, headstones for the lost beloved, and the sense of absence or loss that always hangs about these places. If you find it though, there is a small road that takes you back past the cemetery, over a small bridge, and to another place that seems far less holy but far more powerful. It is called Tyrone Sunken Garden and is, truly, a garden of stone. Supposedly the former owner had brought stones from across the globe together in this garden and had laid it out in a circle, with a stone in the center and pathways out from it, like a wheel. There are stone gates you go through and each stone is carved with the name of a U.S. state that tells you what the state’s bird and nickname are. The garden is beautiful and the shame of it is that wrong-minded people will come and either vandalize the area or perform some manner of dark ritual in the hopes of gaining power they’d never be able to wield.

Make no mistake, there is something strange about the garden but there too is something that draws you there. There is something haunted about the place, as if it is waiting to be re-discovered and loved anew, as if it is waiting patiently for that time but its patience is wearing out. Perhaps it’s just an effect of the dime store Satanism that has plagued the area in recent years but it just feels as if something is there with you and there’s a weight on you as you wander from stone to stone. A weight you don’ t easily forget.

This isn't as scary as any other other stories but my grandparents house in Bozeman is "haunted." There isn't any weird sounds that occur or anything but multiple times a year someone in the family sees a dark silhouette move in the windows as if it was moving around inside the house. For example: about 6 months ago it was another Sunday family dinner and it was almost dark outside. There are a bunch of chairs set up near the kitchen next to some big windows that look out to the big riverside field behind the house, and me and my aunt were chatting when all of a sudden she stops and goes: "holy crap I just saw some sort of dark figure move in the window." We checked and there wasn't anyone else in the room besides my grandma in the kitchen. Strange shit.

Someone who is not superstitious needs to step up and taunt the hell out of this zozo guy. Google it..
