Graduation Present-- Im thinking ski trip! Where should I go????

So I'm graduating high school in early late May. Ive talked to my parents about going on a ski trip instead of doing an open house and they are down for it!! Im considering a few options. First, I could go out west for up to 12 days over our spring break in mid april. The second option is going to Chile and/or Argentina for probably a max of a week. The third and fourth is Japan or Europe for probably only 5 days. My main question is, where do I go?? And if anyone has been to Japan/Europe/South America, how was it and where did you visit when you were there? Would you go again? Is there any places you would recommend? Thanks for the help!

been to europe and sa ... both real fun. i lived in salzburg austria (skied kitzsteinhorn) and spent about a month altogether in las lenas argentina. both places are amazing in their own right and you will have a fucking blast at either. but, if you want to maximize your skiing time i'd say come out west.

if you want to do a euro trip/ sa trip save up for longer so you can spend more time in those places cause 5 days will only be a cock tease and really not allow for that much wild times. anyway you slice it you should try and recruit a homie or two to come along cause that makes it a bit more fun at least before you meet fools on hill.

I have a job. Just looking for advice so I can make the best out of my trip. There is no need to be pissed at me that my parents are willing to give me a ski trip for my graduation present.

no you didnt but that doesnt matter.

Take the 12 days out west. Maximize your skiing time, going to South America for 7 days or Europe for 5 really doesnt make a whole bunch of sense. Go out west have the best ski vacation of your life and be stoked.

Id say South America just because you get a fair amount of time, plus you get to experience foreign culture and from what I heard the terrain and snow is great.

I don't know many people that can say they went to japan to ski. If you want some culture go somewhere out of the country. If your just looking to ski a lot go west. Have fun and don't listen to those douches

South America is really not an option unless you go during our summer instead. If your break is in late March you might just be getting there for the first big snows, but there would be no base.


Based on your time constraints I'd say definitely out west. Pick 2 or 3 resorts and do 5ish days at each one.

Then Chile would be awesome. But do more than a week. If your parents will pay a week then save up some money to do 2 weeks. Once your flight is paid for it wouldn't be that much money to save for an extra week.

Also Japan/Europe would be awesome. You really can't go wrong.

Skiing aside, where would you like to visit the most? Do that.

Don't travel for skiing. You either hit a weather window from the gods or, more likely, you will get boned for conditions and wasted thousands on some mediocre skiing that you could have done at home.

I have been out west three times and it is pretty sweet but I have also been to chile and I would say chile a week vacation at chile would be the best option here

my home skiing is small mountains in NY. i'd take a shitty day at park city or mammoth over skiing at home ANY day of the week

Considering the time you'll get if you choose the West option, I would say go out west. Colorado has had a great season and I would highly recommend Copper Mountain, Keystone, Crested Butte, or Breckenridge. Avoid Vail like the plague; its going to be crowded as hell during spring break. And don't go to Tahoe; they're having a terrible year
