But in dissecting my boots while adjusting the cuff alignment (labelled on the boot as "canting"), I noticed something:
I thought the cuff just rotated (when leaned forward) around these joints (where the "canting" adjustments are)
And later I checked the shells of other brand boots, and sure enough, the cuffs rotated SOLELY around these rivets. Here is a Head boot with the joints circled:
But with the Krypton Rampages, the middle buckle is NOT riveted to just the cuff, like on the other boots-- it's riveted all the way through. Here's a pic of the Rampage inside. The 2 normal rotating joints are circled, but notice the third large rivet-- that's the rivet for the middle buckle.
Now what fucks it up though, is this: The cuff doesn't completely rotate around the joints, like the other boots-- on the side with the buckle, it rotates around the BUCKLE'S rivet. The problem with this? Well, check it out. This is me pushing forward on the cuff:
It's not rotating around the joint it's supposed to-- and as it rotates around the buckle rivet, the canting joint gets all out of whack, and is actually pushed against itself, majorly restricting cuff movement. I thought cuffs were supposed to move on a single hinge, like the other boots.
