Needless to say, members of the NS community were split, with some defending Marg and others calling him a piece of shit for publicly accepting financial support when others aparently weren't. I am on neither side, although I did find it kind of odd that Matt said he was "the second highest ranked pipe skier in Canada, but was on the Olympic B team." so to say. How in the holy fuck are you the second best pipe skier in Canada but are not financial backing from sponsors?
I've also heard that Matt had plenty of support from sponsors, and the money was a completely unnecessary thing for him to ask for.
