One of our riders had an idea about electric winch for skiing and decided to contact ABB. They were interested about the idea and they sent us a frequency converter and a electric motor. They cost pretty much so we were lucky to get them free. The winch works great now and the top speed is more than 70kmh so no more speed issues. The best thing about it is that you can change settings of frequency converter so you don't have to always go full speed and you can tune acceleration times etc. Power for winch comes from 6kW genarator and that's the only big minus when you have to take so much stuff to spot with you.
