A lot of people have been taking lately about many of the inherit qualities of skiing such as the lifelong friends that you make and the incredible feelings of going big and landing tricks and such, so I thought I should lend my thoughts. Skiing has taught me many things, from not being a show off, to perseverance even through the pain of crashing, and an appreciation for the outdoors, but one of the most important things that skiing has helped me achieve is focus. The focus that is experienced during skiing either when dropping in on a jump or cliff is surreal. My mind becomes totally clear of everything in it and is totally focused on the jump or trick at hand, I feel so focused that I hardly hear any of the sound around me. There is nothing quite like this feeling. Not only does it occur during skiing, it lasts for much longer afterwards. Achieving this level of focus while doing something that I love has helped me in school during long tests, and during hard days at work. Being able to completely clear your mind and either enjoy something or accomplish a task is a very valuable skill. It is a skill at which I am very grateful to the sport of skiing for giving me. Even more compelling however, is the sense of peace that I feel when I focus much like I do when skiing. Nothing else matters and my mind becomes worry free. So in a way focus has helped me to find peace during hectic situations in life and other struggles. The focus that is taught to all of us by our beloved sport is incredible and I just thought I should share it with you all. Thanks for taking the time to read this, sorry for the length.
