Replying to Replacing Danger with Alcohol
I
think its Danger we have lost... and are looking to replace. That rush
we feel when we risk our lives..... Approaching the Edge... The
difference with risking our lives through Dangerous Acts of Alcohol
Abuse, is we are not in a state to appreciate the
value of our lives at that moment. .. Lucky even to remember if we live
through our event... You might think that extreme, however.. everything
is Extreme about The Edge. I found the edge many times in life, in many
different diciplines...it was kind of an obsession of mine.. Using my
skills, gifted and earned, mental and physical, to approach the edge .
Practicing Awareness and Balance, Focus and Determinination; Using
Courage and Physics - I risked my life to get a fix. And guess what
happened??? One day... Close to the edge.... I tripped. When I fell, it
triggerred an avalanche, which swept me head first off of a 180 ft
rocky cliff, bouncing and ragdolling, breaking 6 ribs inwards, a mm from
my heart, 2 vertabrae, an 8 inch laceration to my head , a snapped
femur and some scratches. Now I know what is Over The Edge. I now risk
my life less often, run less yellow lights. . Because not everyone gets a
shiny new Titanium Femur when they go over the edge. Some get a Nice
Box. Am I replacing ("Living on a razors edge - Be Quick Or Be Dead" -
the Iron Maiden song I was listening to when I went over) With risking
my life through Alcohol ? I see the edge since I am miraculously blessed
with normal life after what should have killed me, So I have a tool to
use to bring me back from the edge. But I wonder about the ones that
dont have the tools...
