Henrik's Slopestyle finish

He deserved more than what he got today, he fucking destroyed it. His first hit on the jumps was potentially the cleanest Trip I've seen done, and everything else was dialed. I know you guys saw it, and it wasn't the only poorly scored run. Personally I would have preferred to see him on the podium as opposed to the American sweep, but thats just my opinion.

Not to take light away from anything that happened today, I don't think anybody deserved the Gold more than Joss! and Gus put down an incredible run as well.

Edollo nose butt trip sending deeper than everyone else was for sure the best trick of the finals but he had an hand drag on the last landing and his name isn't shaun white so I think the score was ok.. it could've been a little higher but not a top 3

The fact that you didn't mention Goepper in this is a great demonstration of your bandwagoning. Nick had by far the most technical run, was EXTREMELY smooth, and held grabs nobody else could possibly do with those tricks, let alone do most of them.

"Ohhh but duuuude Harlaut nose butter tripled brooooo".

Goepper's switch dub screamin semen double grab is more technical than that, not to mention his triple grab triple cork. And Nick got 3rd...

Yeah, Henrik should have been on the podium. Sent it soo deep, and doing the triple on the first jump and then sending switch butter dub and that last dub. By far the best run I have ever seen in slopestyle.

His second run should have been a 90. a 95 without that hand touch.

he did 2 tricks that no other competitors can do at all, where all the other podium guys only had 1 trick that no other people can do. That should count for a lot more than it did. The trip should have made up for that hand touch, then the switch tail butter dub should have put up more points than it did. rail section was good, nothing extraordinary.


Then compare it to Hatveits 90+ run and wtf is going on. I love Hatveit, but it shouldn't have been scored higher than Harlaut's.


Also then throw in a run like Shaun Whites to compare, where besides amplitude he did nothing extraordinary, butt checked the ground and did a nice big hand drag and still got over 90.

Agreed here, the judging was very strange on occasion but the results speak the truth in my opinion, right people on the podium and after that. Amazing comp tbh.

A hand touch is a hand touch. I don't care what tricks are thrown, if there is a fault in the landing it's not going to score as well. Henrik's run is also all I've seen so I guess I'll have to wait to see everything later to make my own judgements as far as everything else goes.

Henrik's run was so sick until he put his hand down. Could you spend hours debating whether he should of gotten 4th or 5th? Perhaps. Regardless, he put his hand down which is always going to keep you out of a podium position, deservedly so. Had he not put his hand down his run would definitely have been in the 90s and he'd probably be on the podium... But that didn't happen

Again we see that judged skiing always sucks.  I think the platform and the judging was wack but again remember that when judging is involved it will be bullshit and often politiical to an extent especially with the olympics.  I'm stoked that this sport is and has been defined for the core guys and fans by film segments and not contests.

In my opinion Goepper put down the best run, Kenworthy was a close second. Henrik had a great day but didn't get the result I would have wanted to see. Props to everybody who rode in the finals and qualifications. Momentus day for our sport today, regardless of medal and position, we should all be happy.

I think Joss definitely deserved the win! But with henrik I'm unsure where he should stand. He hand dragged AND barely held his grab on the second jump. He and hatviet would have been difficult to judge.

I dont think all judges from all countries really appreciate or know much about the nose butter. That adds technicality but I bet some of the judges missed it.

he almost crashed on the last hit of the second run and sketched out on a rail in his first run. podium if he landed the last jump clean? I think so.

Gus Goepper and Joss had crazy runs and I tought those three runs were pretty equal to me even tho I tough Gus dub 16 and the absolute stomp on his trip would have made a little gap.

Crazy display of skills by those three.

On the switch unnat triple:
Unless you can do it both ways there is no unnatural even for a switch trip. It's a right side spin but it's not unnatural unless he can do it the other way around. The important thing is/should be showing that you can do tech stuff both ways. Imagine a run were a natural right side spinner does all his trick to the left... how can you say it's unnatural? ex:

Hatveit didnt have the tricks but his run was stomped and really tech on top: such a legend.

Oh this thread again. Also all the judges are former or current competitive freestyle skiers. They know exactly what it is and if you didn't miss it, they didn't miss it. They are the best judges out there. Henrik was scored incredibly fair.

I think he could've gotten a higher score, but his finishing position ended up being correct. All the guys ahead of him were flawless, even if Andreas didn't have as technical tricks. Henrik punched the ground and his rail section was definitely not as hot as the top three's. The nosebutter trip was the cleanest he has done so far, but it wasn't the cleanest. Well, maybe tied for first, but I can't imagine a jump being stomped harder than the triples thrown by Nick, Joss and Gus.

So... Henrik was behind on the rails. his first jump beats all. his second jump.... I'm not sure if it should beat a switch dub 9 double genie grab. If I recall correctly the tail butter could've been a bit better and the grab wasn't as good as I'd have expected from HH. His last trick is pretty stock for most other top guys in the field and he touched the ground.

IMO there is no way he should've podiumed today.

He totally could have scored higher, but a podium? No way. Incase you forgot, he crashed his first run. That pretty much took all chance (or made it slim) of him getting a medal finish.

I agree with the score and I know their backgrounds. Different countries have different fad, that's the beauty of the Olympics. Snowboard half pipe was a perfect example

Hennie also missed the Octo grab on the last dub 10, however if he had have landed clean and got the octo grab he may have won

i'll have to check but i don't think he was trying to grab octo...just going for the single grab, either way his rails weren't amazing and he didn't deserve the podium as much as joss gus and goepper

yeah I think he was going with the phil grab sort of (does taht grab still exist?), saying he doesnt deserve the podium is stupid. That nosebutter triple was SO FUCKING STOMPED AT THE BOTTOM OF THE landing. Honestly it's probably the hardest trick executed in freeskiing history. It fucking sucks he couldn't stomp the rightside dub. It would of been real interesting to see where it would of put him on the podium.

realistically his run just wasn't as technical as Joss's or Gus's. Although the nose butter triple is probably the hardest trick to do in skiing right now, his run lacked some of the technicality on the rails up top, and the hand drag didn't help him at all. I'm a huge fan of dollo don't get me wrong, but it was pretty easy to see that his run didn't compare to any podium runs.

Lets not forget about a SWITCH tail butter dub . Who else can fucking do those? Nobody. Henrik's rails were clean too. I agree the hand touch made the run score lower but come on, 6th place.

indeed it was...but based on his reaction after the score i'm not so sure he was expecting to get scored that high. i think henrik's run was better. his hand didn't even drag it was more a nose heavy landing and his pole dragged--which is not a hand drag landing.

ehhh i highly doubt someone has the credentials to be an olympic judge yet doesnt know about the nose butt

Id have to agree with what other people are saying. A perfectly clean run deserves a higher spot than a run with even the most minor imperfections up to the point the less clean run is on the complete next level (ie if henrik was the only person throwing a triple or something)

Unfortunately for dollo the sloppy landing cost him the spot on the podium and the judges rightfully acknowledged it. He woulda had better luck throwing nose right 9 or maybe 12, switch dub, then a forward trip to the moon off the money booter

No you are, just train on a tramp and you will se how a dub with a hard grab is waaaay more technical than a triple cork. And I don't think that a nosebutt can offset this.

FYI, a couple of those judges were judges at the X-Games and know exactly how difficult nose-butters are.

But this isn't big air...it's a slope comp so everything has to be put together perfectly. Rails and airs have to be dialed.

In the end everything was as it should be.

Why was his rail section so weak? I feel like if he would have nose butter 2(or even 4) on pretz 2 off a feature he would've really stood out. His rails looked just like everyone elses and i know he is capable of doing some wild things on rails. Maybe he just didn't want to risk screwing up on them but i feel like if he dialed in a better run up top that his hand on the last landing may have been overlooked
