Hey all, we finally got the first episode of the season out. This is from an early December trip to Silverton/Durango area. There was not a ton of snow but more then anywhere else so we went down and had a good time.
I kind of went into this edit with a different approach to what I was trying to accomplish then I usually have and I am overall pretty happy. Any comments or critiques are more then welcome!
Thanks and Enjoy

Awesome! Love to see some shredding up at Purgatory. It was a little long for my taste, but overall I enjoyed the story, cool to see some footage up on Red and Molas.

Thanks! Sick area indeed. And I feel ya on the time, but in a way we were trying to really introduce the riders in this one and also something I forgot to mention is it is airing on The Ski Channel's satellite tv station. So gearing it towards a TV spot really influenced how I put it together as well.

Awesome edit man!
Some small things; The slow motion was slowed to much-The features were low speed- and the slow motion emphasized that. And the choice of music was good- but in this context the slow songs emphasized the über slow motion even more.
And the changing of angles, was overdone. It got boring and predictable; Now you get a by-the-jump pan, and midway you switch to a wider shot.
If you change that to the next episode, then i think this will be a frickin' good webseries

Thanks for the tip and glad ya enjoyed it. I wish we could have got a little more creative with the shots as well, but due to the fact that we had to cram 5 people and gear into a forester we had to sacrafice bringing our dollys, sliders, and jibs. Next episode should be a bit more dynamic in terms of shots. And as far as the slowmo goes, I know everyone doesnt dig it, but to me that trip was in slowmotion and the editing seemed to fit the vibe we all experienced, but your right less is probably good.

First off those OmniBars are the nastiest. As far as filming it was definitely too slow for my liking. I watched some of your other episodes last year and it seemed like the filming was sub par for what your capable of. The jumps were pretty small features and you definitely could have got some more creative and closer angles on those to make it more exciting. The video lacked detail. Mostly just a lot of wider shots of riding. I think if the vibe was about having fun you could have incorporated more elements into that and show the guys laughing and dicking off a bit more. An the video on the groomers was hard to watch. Lose the GoPro and get your camera on a glidecam. You could have got some cool shots that way and really improved the feel and vibe. Sorry to have such a negative critique but I know your can do better. Obviously I don't know the circumstances of what your had to film with but from my perspective that's the feedback.

Thanks I appreciate your opinion. As far as the angles and pacing of the edit go I think I already touched on that, not that I can change anything now so it is what it is really.
Also Yeah if there was anything really worth filming at purgatory I would have used my glidecam. At that point us filmers just wanted to ski around and drink to be honest, the tiny park and low angle groomers were not too epic.
And honestly I could go on about omnibars all day. They are the perfect fuel for what we do. Limited pack space, long days hiking, and a lot of energy exertion. Gels and Cliff bars are all good and sure they taste like a dessert, but eating heavily processed carbs, low grade proteins, and simple sugars is just not nearly as good of an energy source as real beef protein and natural unprocessed carbs. We like a product that you don't need a phd to know what all of the ingredients are, and really its just flavored jerky, don't see how people dislike it, we all eat it up, but you certainly don't have to and there are plenty of other options! But for someone looking for real, natural, filling energy, they are worth checking out.
Peace

Haha I never said they weren't healthy or made with quality ingredients. I'm just saying I've tried a couple because one of my friends worked on a marketing plan for them and myself and others just thought that they tasted like dogs ass. I'm glad you like them because the ingredients are quality but damn I can't get over the way they taste to me.

Fair enough haha. I will admit it is a very unique taste and probably somewhat acquired. Thanks again for the review. Seems like this site has gone downhill in terms of constructive criticism in the last few years.
