no i think its bogus, hes had the same excuse with his hand for months now.  the only reason he doesnt have them back is because hes used to it now.  Poles are part of gear in slope, and goepper has an advantage it getting grabs since he doesnt use them.  I dont buy that he cant 'hold' them

because you have to hold something in your hand while you grab.  goepper has an advantage.  if he can hold a ski in a grab, then he sure as hell can hold a fuckin pole

Plus, I would then just call him smart for using no poles to his advantage.
People with better wax technicians have advantages, should they get lower scores?
What about other events like swimming; should they add a second to phelps races because he uses those high tech suits?
