Alright so I'm planning on building a 10 foot pvc rail for use in my backyard. I'm just wondering what tools I will need. All i have is a little 7.2 volt drill. Will I need something larger? Also I was wondering, since it would save me a lot of money on a electric saw, if when I bought the wood from home depot if they would cut it down for me? Thanks for all help in advance! +K to answers
IF you like building stuff get a small chop saw. You can get them between 50-100 bucks these days and they're clutch. Fathers day will be here in a couple months and you can get some great deals.
If you really don't think you'll ever build a drop in or anything out of wood again you can get them to cut stuff at the home depot. I think it's like 50 cents a cut. Not sure the quality of your drill but you can get those for under 50 if needed to. It's nice to have some decent tools to play with. 2x4s and pvc are cheap. IF you have the tools, the creativity and the time to kill, you can build pretty much anything.
Also with 2x4 framing, it's nice to cut the pieces to what you need. Instead of cutting everything to be 2 feet, get your corners all set and then cut measure the other 2x4s to the spot, cut them just big and hammer them into place. This way everything will be locked solid before you even put a nail or screw in it. Can also do that with some 45's on the bracing. Draw both angle on each side. Cut it just big and then pound it in. You're drop in will never rock and will outlast anything less than the apocalypse.
Idk, I just think having tools is clutch. Can build your self a mini ramp, a new picnic table for your family, a book shelf for your mom, anything.
