So I'm sure this is a repost but I'm feeling lazy. Anyways, DC is getting roughly a foot of snow tomorrow and Thursday and I am thinking of building a jump at a golf course or something of the sort and need some advice on how to build it... Not just a shitty pile of snow but a legit jump that'll last. Any tips?
It's like gathering firewood. Get enough snow to build a comfortable jump then get 10 times more. Bigger is better.
But really location is everything if you want it to be good. Find somewhere with a decent landing. Also make sure you have enough speed before you start building it.
Build something big that has transition to it. If you're going to hit it fast and really want to throw some stuff a 3 foot high jump that's practically vert isn't really that cool. (unless it's just for backflips.)
Just push in snow from the sides. If it's wet snow it will be even easier to build. If not you can stomp it as you go so that you don't blast right through it when you're done.
Also there are several threads but I'm too lazy to link
Salt is especially good for spring booters especially the bigger ones. You can salt in runs too.
Salt takes the beat slush and freezes it. Make sure everythings smooth though because it will turn it to ice. If it isnt you gotta be quick. If you're doing it on the in run I'd slip it first then salt it, stay off it for a bit and let it firm up.
