Headed to Colorado

This is my first time skiing out in Colorado! I've been skiing Sun Valley every year around this time and we wanted to try something new. I am hearing the best parks/skiing is at breck of keystone.....If anyone could let me know which is worth skiing.

between breck and keystone, i would have to say i love breck, i mean yea, you gotta pay for parking or take a shit long bus ride, but the park is so fucking good its retarded, in my opinion the features are just easier to approach, where as at keystone you see some shit that just makes your head spin, imma big fan of breck's parks, i like em a lot more than key, hope that helped man!

Awesome, Yeah i've heard that some of the rails and setups at keystone are a bit scary but might as well go while im there right?

You should definitely go ride both, different rails, setups, jumps, everything. Go try both and you be the judge, I prefer keystone myself.

Keystone is like brecks ugly stepsister. You only ride her when breck is packed.

Fuck all these responses. Key is the shit, Living in summit county i have 45 days at key and 0 at breck.

Parking at key is easy midweek, at peru lot you ride a lift right to the top of the park. At breck if you dont pay, you have to park far away, wait for a bus to the gondola, ride up the gondola, and then another lift to the park.
The lift at key for the park also just services the park, where as breck's services ski school/park/normal skiers, and often stops.

You will have fun at either brecks park is tight, keystone just makes the most sense for the person trying to ski the most park.

If it's your first time to Colorado you should check out both. They're roughly 20 minutes apart and both parks have a lot to offer.

A ticket will work at each. I think Breck is much better than Keystone in general. The town of Breck is better, The snowpack at Breck is a shit-ton better than Keystone. The jumps at Breck are extremely nice. Only thing Keystone has is it is normally a little less crowded depending on the days. Also, it seems Keystone enforces rules and clips passes much more than Breck does. Ive been skiing Summit county for 24 years and Breck has always been the best. If your buying tickets, id say check out Copper over Keystone.

Breck's jumps are way better and everything flows better in my opinion. Keystone has a much bigger selection of rails/tubes, many of them being set up pretty unique (some are kinda gnarly but can be very fun).

As far as efficiency and ease of skiing, Keystone is better because of the park lift, whereas Breck's lift services other trails besides the park and it's at the busiest base of the mountain. However if you're skiing during the week Breck is prime because the amount of people there is minimal compared to weekends. I'd suggest to check out both while you're out here...Keystone's park is also open until 6pm for night skiing which is always less crowded.

keystones grinderz game is on point always, and their jumps are much better this year. i would say go as many different resorts as you can while youre out here

Dude, no way, just park in Airport Parking Lot and take like a 5 minute bus ride to the gondola. Super easy. And definitely quick.

Give your money to wolf creek and ski the deepest snow of your life. With the weather this season the chance of you getting a solid park day at Breck or Key is slim.

i don't think keystone is sketchy at all, if anything breck is a little off-putting. i suggest keystone, but you can do both. Night ski fo days

Night skiing is soo fun. Even after the park closes you have pretty much the whole mountain to yourself to jib off of every side hit you could ever want at any speed without getting yelled at by those asshole "Mountian Safety" guys. Hell, you could even straightline Schoolmarm (Key's main beginner run that is the most speed-patrolled), it has some solid side hits when you can go fast on it. Night Skiing gets kind of sketchy though when it's icy, your best bet is a weeknight after a weekday of pow.

Also, Keystone's park is totally centralized and is better for making hot laps, unlike Breck where it is a little bit spread out and longer. Key has a lot chiller vibe and has shorter lift lines on any given day pretty much. Breck is a LOT better out side of the park though.

How so? Keystone pushes the Kidtopia and family resort more so than anyone. Always a million little kids and yellow jackets yell at you constantly to slow down. Breck is more of a resort that allows a little "extra fun" and as long as you keep it to yourself, they'll never say anything about it. Keystone used to be really cool about 5 years ago. Ever since they got rid of 24 hours of keystone and the other events that cater to young adults, i feel Keystone has a vibe that pushes away park kids and younger kids.

Wolf Creek, Silverton and Telluride will probably provide the best skiing you are looking for in Colorado - consistent, deepsnow pack this year combined with many blower pow days. Hell, i'd even throw Beaver Creek (and Vail on a "quiet" day) in the list too - totally underrated.

Each will offer challenging, consistent pitch tree skiing and good inbounds hike-to access terrain to find untouched stashes a few days after the storm.

fuck wolf creek, yea it snows a bunch, but that place is too small and flat. don't tell people traveling across the country to go there, it's only for that early season fix.

Both are great mountains. Lodge in Breck and drive over to keystone a couple days during your trip.

Places to eat in Breck: Downstairs at Erics (baked wings), Giampetros (Calzones), Rasta Pasta (Chicken Montego Bay dish), Rita's (Margaritas), Mi Casa (Dope happy hour). Breckenridge Brewery (brew pub). Safest order at any restaurant: hard to find a bad burger in CO.

Places to eat in Keystone are usually over in Dillion: Dillion Dam Brewery (Brew pub), Red Mtn Grill, Arapahoe Cafe, Pug Ryans (brew pub)

Best breakfast joints: Breck - Clint's Bagel shop, Columbine Cafe, Daylight Donuts. Dillion - Blue Moon Bakery.

Good luck and enjoy your trip man. Make sure you warm up to the jumps, we got all sizes here and there is no need to bust yourself up on the trip.

If you're here on the weekends, I suggest taking the trek over to Vail or Beaver Creek. It'll be about an hour drive for you, but totally worth getting out of the crowd the rushes up here. If that's too far, Copper Mtn gets less traffic and is near Breck. They have a good park and just opened some great skiing terrain.
