Anybody have any info on the parks at okemo? last time i was there they had only 4 jumps, none bigger than 20 feet. even in the "superpark" the jumps are max 25 feet. seemed really small for how much snow they have.
The park guys at Okemo are hard working dudes. I work there too and i see them in action. They have a lot of stuff set up now adays. a very niiiiice pipe, kickers, rails, boxes, and a bunch of other random things like they just set up a stair set! So... if ya wanna give it a try let me know. I can get you a free pass, the catch is that you have to ski with me though!
Heres a clip of the two jumps on lower noreaster. I really thought okemo would've made something bigger by now. id say they are 30 feet - 25 feet. first ones bigger. second one needs a longer landing.
If those are the final jumps for okemo, than they will be the smallest jumps i have ever seen for a season at okemo and ive been skiing there since i was 2 years old.
When the nor' jumps were built they measured at 40' for jump one and 45' for jump 2. Overall the have a good shape and were built by the OMS snowboard and free ski coaches. While they were small it was nice to have a few jumps that were not supper sketchy as in seasons past. Since they were built in late January they have only shrunk in size. I'd guess they are closer to 30' and 35' now. The jumps on blackout are of a smilier size. Maybe 25' to a 35'. There a good amount of rails scattered about on nor'easter. The flow could use some help though. Blackout has a bunch of short rails and boxes. They put the S-box in this week finally, which is pretty fun.
Look for a huge improvement next season for Okemo Parks...I'm sure the details of whats happening next year will drop soon. With the improvements slated for next season I expect Okemo to once again become a top 10 park as they were way back in the day.
while i agree the jumps had better shape than in years past, theres no way they measured 40 and 45 feet. i remember hitting them the first time and thinking holy shit these things are tiny. next time I'm out ill measure them and i guarantee they will come in at under 30 feet. I asked okemo parks on FB if theyre changing them up for the end of the year and they said they are so hopefully they actually do that.
Glad to hear this! I grew up skiing okemo but only get up there once or twice a season now. If things are lookin good in the park for next season I might make the effort to get up there more often.
I hope they get the park built early next season. Shakin my head at how long it took. I must say it is very fun right now. People are bitching about the bottom section being rebuilt, but I think it's sick.
