Green Goggles at the Olympics

goggle sponsor for the olympic team, thats what the company wants them to wear. just like their jackets, helmets, pants, gloves, etc..

You aren't allowed to have sponser logos bigger than a certain size on clothing, skis, helmets, etc in order to "maintain the spirit of the games". So they make their products stand out as much as possible

Any athlete that is "sponsored" or "supported" by Oakley has neon green eyewear. This includes skiers, snowboards, xc skiers, etc...

Those that aren't "sponsored" have put tape over the logos of their goggles



I wouldn't really say it's for the "spirit of the games" though. It's more for companies like McDonalds and Coca Cola that have spent multi-millons on advertising. This way no other company gets prominant advertising

Kindof off-topic, anyone else think those canadian ski-suits kinda looks like the gangsta one? im talking about the pants and kinda jacket the Dufour-Lapointe sisters wore.

I love all of the Canadian Olympic wear, they reeeeeeally outdid themselves, they did amazing with all if it. 10/10 would wear. srs.

Full Tilt came out with the 2014/15 Drop Kicks that are Highlighter Yellow. They definitely stand out.

i found this on oakleys website but theyre are people wearing green goggles that werent oakley.
someone please explain!
All oakley athletes in the Olympics will be using green frames. It is a celebration to the first goggles Oakley made which among others came in that green color. Furthermore it has the added bonus for Oakley that it works as a very recognizable factor. Just like specialized cycles did in the summer Olympics where all specialized athletes were using neon orange bicycles. Since the Olympics has very strict rules for logos this makes the Oakley (or specialized) athletes very easy to spot.

Im glad Oakley is stirring things up with this. Its things like this that are great for our sports top companies. Its a shame that the smaller gear brands are so limited with what they can do.. some recognition in the worlds top event could go a long way for some of our favorite ski brands... but will they make a difference for Coca-Cola or WacArnorlds? no way. If ski brands could become better overall due to increased exposure that means they could offer us skiers better products and help our favorite local shops prosper. im all for that.

I work for Oakley. This is called the 80's Green Collection. It its only for Olympic athletes sponsored by Oakley. It is supposed to be a symbol of unity between countries and their sports.

This isnt true. The only thing that countries will force you to wear is the outerwear, some countries dont even have a uniform like Japan. The US is rare because they do give the athletes gloves. They could limit the colors of the other items but those are still up to whom ever is sponsoring you. Oakley is just more noticeable because of the green goggles.

ah good call. my bad. i saw so many of the athletes rocking oakleys, didnt even think they were just on the oakley team.

its an oakley anniversary thing, oakleys doing a throwback to the 80s when oakley goggles came in the retro neon green colour. I personally hate it and wish they matched the team suits but ya know...
