In late november i broke my ankle skateboarding. I was ripping around this mini ramp when i guess i stepped off with my right foot and i rolled it inside. I broke low tibia, low fibula, and high fibula (just below my knee). So i got a plate and 2 screws holding my ankle together right now and was wondering if anyone in a similar situation had left their screws in and waited for them to break or got them surgically removed
I had a similar break. I got all my hardware removed after a year. They hurt pretty bad, and my doctor said it didn't really matter either way. Now I'm pain free without any screws.
My brother had a plate and a bunch of screws in his arm from a motocross accident, The doctor wanted to leave them in. Some of the screws eventually worked their way out until the heads were pushing his skin out. They obviously removed it. shoulda used lock-tite I guess.
