Athletes goggles at Sochi

Can somebody tell me why a good majority of the athletes at Sochi in freestyle are wearing some Oakley Canopys with a lime green frame and black strap ? did anybody else notice that ?

I think each team is "sponsored" by certain goggles.

I also noticed everyone is wearing like the same smith holt helmet as well. I think pretty much everything but board/bindings/boots is provided by the athlete, then everything else is from the olympic team.

so so so so so so so so so wrong. Goggles are their own sponsors and no not everyone is wearing the same helmet.

threads...I was wondering the same thing. the bright green oakleys look a little odd with the team uniforms.

Quite a few were Giro BUT they were just blank ones from different brands, I saw Pro Tec, Sandbox and loads of others. There are no assigned helmets

Since oakley cannot have their logo very big on the strap, im guessing they painted them green to attract attention/promote.

You answered your own question. So people like you notice them. They can't have large logos, and guess what having large, neon green, clashing goggles does? It makes people like you notice them and start conversation about them. Oakley gotcha!

What I don't get is that some people are wearing Oakley goggles in normal colours. Maybe these people don't have a goggle sponsor and just happen to have their own pair of Oakleys...

Oakley released the neon-green Olympic goggles this season as a limited edition run. For 2014, Oakley only gave them to Olympic athletes at Sochi. For 2015, the same pro-model is available in a super limited edition.

We think the best looking ones are in the Canopy and Crowbar.
