Boots or skis first?

I have a friend that is just starting to ski again and has boots that are over 15 years old. He wants to buy new skis before boots and I'm trying to steer him in the opposite direction. What are your thoughts guys, new boots or skis first?

boots are more important/make a bigger difference. assuming that the skis in question aren't 50 years old or something

He wants to buy new skis, doesn't own any but has 15 year old boots.

well if he doesn't have skis yet, he can't do anything with new boots only but if he has new skis at least he can ski until he gets new boots

he should get a good fitting pair of boots, unless he's fine with the ones he has now, in that case he should just get skis

oh well if he doesnt have skis and the boots are fine, def go skis cause it's def worth it to own all the gear

get some used skis cheap and invest in boots, good boots can make or break your day
